Temple teacher denies everything despite plenty of evidence

LAMPHUN: -- An angry parent went to the police to complain that a temple school teacher abused her child and others by whacking them on the bottom.

But the man denied it saying: "Do you think I would do that when my retirement is coming up?"

But others at the Lamphun school - including a former student - said he had been assaulting students and throwing things at them for years and years.

The mother went to Lamphun police with Novice A and his friends Novices B and C yesterday to register a complaint.

She said she didn't want there to be a prosecution - just let it act as a warning so that the Social Studies teacher did not hit her son again.

He had bruises on his buttocks after allegedly being hit five times, like his friends.

But Daily News reporters who went to the area spoke to people who said it was well known that this teacher handed out beatings to children.

Others had reported it before including the case where he had thrown a pen at a child and injured his eye.

One alumnus said he had been beaten frequently.

The reporters went to the school connected to the temple of Wat Don Kaew and there the teacher concerned came up with a string of denials.

About the pen he said: "It came out of my hand by mistake. I said sorry to the child"

About the bottom beatings: "The children did it to themselves - I would never do that and never have".

He added: "I have been teaching for 38 years and have only got 2 to go. Do you think I would jeopardize my retirement plans?"

No mention was made of any police action in the Daily News story.

Another little man with a Napoleon complex. I watched many Thai teachers whack the crap out of students in the high schools I taught at. Maybe the kids deserved it seeing their behavior most days, but I get a feeling that these fools were just doing it because they could not command respect by earning it.

"It came out of my hand by mistake."

"The children did it to themselves "

Typical Thai excuse,it always someone elses fault.

In a country where father rapes her own daughter what do you expect from the teacher ?

One wonders why there has never been a payback by an alumnus, or 10.

I don't think this is connected, at all.

Face it, using children for depraved behaviour can be found anywhere on the world, including your own country.

Even some girls fond of getting spanking on their buttocks by their spouse, and voluntarily showing them. :w00t:

Is this an criminal offense of domestic violence ? :w00t:

the root cause of bad behavior is due to bad parenting and hitting children will not repair that.

4. to abstain from false speech

Abstaining from a few thousands calories per day would be a better starting point

Not that long ago in US public schools teachers were allowed to administer corporal punishment, I was smacked on palm with a rattan in parochial school by a sister. Should not leave marks like that on bottom maybe a little over the top.

No child "deserves" assault. To condone or commit it is illegal. Only the stupid and incompetent use it. The simple test: Would you assault someone your own size for the same offence?

It is ridiculous to assume I would hit children 2 years before I will change my career to work with Pizza Company...

In my schooldays, the best teachers did not need corporal punishment to get class discipline. They could do it with a look or a couple of words. They had a presence which conveyed " Don't mess with me". Perhaps that says something about the state of teaching in Thailand.

Why hasn't some Father's right hand come out of nowhere by mistake and connected with force with this c#*@"s head. The option to say sorry for the mistake is always there.

Funny how many either lived sheltered lives, have selective memories, or have been lobotomized

the teachers obviously suffering amnesia.....or he is an outright liar...I choose the latter....2 years to go.....before retirement!!...go now you crazy deranged lying prick

That would say more about the Thai mentality than anything else. Exacting revenge on a teacher or two that put corporal punishment on me never even entered my head. My parents also trusted the teachers and would add 'you probably deserved it'. Very different times and Thailand is still living them.

This country is living in a world of denial. Nothing is moving forward.

Teachers are there to teach not to assault. Students will learn if they are taught intelligently and interestingly. Most teachers I worked with were marking time, counting the days. The kids could see it and punished these imposters with disobedience.
