One month apartment rental for under 12,000 baht per month

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have two friends (a married couple) arriving in BKK next month and they would like to rent an apartment for one month only. Being close to the BTS or MRT is a bonus but not necessary, so they are pretty flexible as to which area of BKK they stay. Their maximum budget is 12,000 baht. I know that Mansion Sarasinee does one month rentals for about 11,000 baht. Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Please, no responses suggesting websites to check. I am looking recommendations from forum members.

Many thanks.

Not for 12k. Not quality that's for sure in fact you will mostly get back packer bunk beds even on air bnb

Unless the condo or hotel is out in whoop whoop but who wants to stay out there and fight taxis every day that won't drive you

Fair enough...but there are some available if you look and cheaper than a hotel for a month

Problem is most fall under "private room category with shared facilities" or are near the airport.

I have 2 studios currently rented out between Nana and Asoke bts air bnb 35 sqm for 22k plus electricity and it's a 10 tear old building.

12 k would get them a descent place in jomtien but only just. Forget BKK

I've never seen a good offer on Airbnb, everything that i saw is totally overpriced. If you look at the link that you posted... most are shared rooms, or a room with a shared bathroom

Go on this website: http://www.renthub.in.th/en

Select your favorite area and then on the right at "Narrow your search" select the daily rates. If a place offers daily rental they also offer rates for 1 month.

Thanks for the advice, but it's actually called "On Nut". The air must be pretty thin up there from your penthouse suite in the Ritz...

Its Oh Nuts because when you live there and wake up in the morning and realize what a mistake you made you will yell out: Oh Nuts!

When you say less than 12000 I take it you mean less than but close to 12000?  Because there are plenty of places renting at a quarter of that.  Somebody else mentioned Onnut, I stayed in an apartment around there for 3300 baht, could walk to BTS and Tesco Lotus in less than 5 minutes.  Aircon in that building was an extra 500 baht a month.  OP probably isn't interested but for anybody else, it's called LS apartment and it's Sukhumvit Soi 48/3.

Now I'm staying in a bit nicer place for 5500 a month, similar area.  Walk about 10 minutes to BTS or motorbike taxi 10 baht.

Not trying to start something with you but this is an example of being there ( Oh Nuts).

Many people especially Thais, seem to not get the tre cost of where they live.  So, back and forth on those Sois is 20 b.  Maybe twice a day.  Then taking a Skytrain to a place with something going on because how many times a day can one walk Tesco.

My point is add another 3,000 b plus onto that rent.  Plus the time it takes for the transport.( waiting in line for those mb taxis, etc.)

Paying a little more if one can makes more sense it seems.

Thanks for that recommendation. I'll pass it on to them. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to spend less than 12,000pm.

A lot of cheap Charlie's living 20 minute walk from on nut to the bts.

Ugggghh.. Up to you!
93 building- on Suk 93-a 700 metre walk from Bang Chak BTS is around 5-6k a month, with free wifi, cutlery and crockery, cable tv, microwave, fridge, cleaner and balcony.
They do have a website. Get their number off tyere and get a Thai to call. I think the monthly rates srltart from the start to the end of the month, otherwise its 500 baht a night.

Not sure if your issue is with people living 20 minutes walk from the BTS or living in Onnut, or paying less than you obviously do for their apartment?

Either way it comes across a little snobbish.

No, in the world.  Who mentioned anybody in isaan?

When you say 'better off' do you mean financially?  Because most people, at least the people who have grasped what is important in life, wouldn't define being better off as anything to do with tangible assets.  If that is what you mean, of course there are many, many people better off than all of us on this forum, I'm not sure what your point is.  Your post was apparently ridiculing people who spend less than you do on an apartment.  I can't imagine a worse attitude.

You can value money if you like, indeed it's hard not to in a capitalist society, but you shouldn't value it as the most important thing, and you certainly shouldn't look down on people whose outlook on life differs to yours, to do so only closes your mind to people who might be able to open it for you.

Speak for yourself, I'd be embarrassed to be living like a king when there are people so much worse off than me.  Why not give your excess funds to people who really need it?

Those worse off people would think you absolutely demented choosing to live frugally and like them as to not be embarrassed. You would not see them for dust given them the chance of circumstance upgrade. I don't think it really matters how you live, like a pauper or a King as long as you are respectful and have empathy for others.

I guess that's because she thought you had ulterior motives.  Nothing to do with social status if that's what you're inferring.  At least that's what I hope it was or your ex was up herself.

They are a married couple (so presumably 2 salaries) and they can't even afford more than 12,000 baht a month? The mind boggles... Or are they both long-term unemployed layabouts? Bangkok's still attracting the "high-quality tourists", I see. Judging by the number of people I see asking questions about rooms for sometimes a lot less than 12,000, Bangkok is attracting more desperadoes without two cents to rub together than ever.

In a country where the average monthy salary is that of what the couple are planning to spend, are you really surprised who can afford to live in the same city as you?

Just stay in serviced apt or Abnb, you will lose your security deposit anyway. So just add 10-15 pm to the budget and have a look.

No idea why any woman would want to be in lower Sukhumvhit. Really why anyone would really.

This area won't have any respect until five years after Nana closes and the Africans all get sent back home, or barring that holed up in Ramkhamheng. It's a dump, when forced to ride BTS you can always peg the losers getting off at Nana.

Same losers who moved to thailand because they couldnt cut it in a normal country?

Or same losers who have to live in a 12K/month apartment lol. Most nice places around Nana are expensive just slight discount to surrounding area.

I hope Nana plaza closes too, the real estate will scyrocket,  and area will feel more high end /be clean like ploen chit. Good luck getting rid of the africans theyll just move down a street. Whitey and arabs are their main customers so Nana they will stay. Also visa loopholes for them wont be closed anytime soon with the trade thailand now does with africa.

Then I rented out too low at 20k, 67sqm on soi 15 sukhumvit. Same 10yr old building. Is that really the rates for a studio?

Few low priced rooms such as those referred to above will rent for a single month, usually 3 months minimum.
