rooster59
Three dead as pickup slams motorcycle with pillion seat in Prachin Buri By The Nation Three people were killed and three others severely injured as a speeding pickup truck crashed into a motorcycle with three pillion riders before then hitting eight vehicles housed in a roadside tent for a used-car dealership in Prachin Buri. Police said the accident happened at 2am on highway 3079 near the Phra Prom intersection in Tambon Thatoom in Prachin Buri’s Sri Mahapho district. Police said motorcyclist Nikom Rattaprathoom, 20, died at the scene and two others, Parichat Saedan, 17, and Kittithat Chaiyaphum, 20, died in hospital. The other injured motorcyclist was unidentified. The four were riding on the same bike. The pickup was driven by Chaimongkol Nontha-ubol, 34, who was travelling with his wife. The impact of the crash sent the couple through their pickup’s windshield, causing serious injuries. All the injured were sent to Sri Mahapho hospital. Witness Weerachai Maenmai, 39, told police that he saw the pickup speeding from the 304 industrial zone and hitting the motorcycle before it lost control and plunged into the roadside used-cars tent. trainman34014
Four on a Motorbike, you can bet with no helmets, speeding pick-up, 2am, two people go through the windscreen on impact , so another good bet they weren't wearing seatbelts. I wonder if any of them had a license to drive or any insurance ? All in all this sums up just about everything that's wrong with 'Law and Order' on Thai roads ! RIP those lost but has to be said that self inflicted.

phantomfiddler
It almost always seems to be the pickups that are involved in these accidents. Every accident I have ever had here has been with a pickup truck

You cant say that there is anything wrong with the law and order on Thailands roads, until they have a three month trial to see if they like it or not

Sir Swagman
I wonder why road carnage is even reported. Could there not just be a template headline saying something like 'as usual, about every 25 minutes today someone died, probably as a result of the normal avoidable reasons'
Cereal
I wonder if this accident will fall into the "bad luck" or "fate" category as 1/3 of Thais believe.

hotchilli
2am you can pretty much do as you like, if it's anything like where I live NO police are around at that time.. here their hours seem to be 6am to 6pm and after saying that it seems to only cover school opening and closing and then they disappear after 6pm it's definitely do-as-you-like time !!
