But tbh, I'm less concerned about his residency.  I'm more concerned about how most wealthy celebrities think they're an authority on these matters.  And the scary thing is their fans take it all in.

Two of the objects of celebrity marketing is to breathe life into a failing brand and/or to attract new users to the brand. In this case I would suggest both.

Ridiculous article. From the Guardian, so any semblance of reality is fleeting at best. So none of these problems existed before the Brexit vote? I doubt it. Anti Brexit people are like anti Trumpers

Good article, and it makes the same point(s) that I have been making for a while.   The referendum was twenty months ago and the government seems not a whole lot more prepared for the conseq

He's quite right to use his status and position to influence opinion, whether or not he's any more of an expert on these matters than you or I, who knows.

But the amount of influence he has (with a huge fan base) is disproportionate to his qualifications to preach on the topic. The same goes for most celebrities. And most of them supported remain.

Imagine how many die hard fans of celebrities voted remain just because their heroes supported it.

You seem to be deflecting here. You claimed 200m weekly loses were directly attributable to Brexit. That is BS, and only the gullible would be taken in by it. So you're either gullible, or just helping to spread the fear.

There was no explanation or proof for this 200M in that BS story.

To be fair, it seems unlikely that more than a tiny minority of voters would base their vote on any celebrities opinion!

They are 'useful' however, in attracting attention - and thereby swaying the opinion of those who 'aren't sure', particularly for the young voters who (for some reason) consider celebrities to be important....  Add in a few 'experts' support, and a number of those 'unsures' will start believing the hype .

Wrong, I did not claim anything and there is no deflection involved.

If you had read the posts as you have claimed you would be aware that the comment by Mark Carney of £200 million per week related directly to the reduction of half a percent in GDP resulting from the brexit referendum.

Of course you are perfectly free to claim any documented figures or reports as fake news, the same could be said of any brexiteer propaganda, could amount to an awful lot of gullible people.

Bank of England Governor Mark Carney Lets Slip Brexit Vote Has Cost UK Growth £200m A Week

"Mark Carney told a private gathering in Davos that the country had forefeited £10bn in GDP since the 2016 referendum."

"The £10 billion of lost growth equates to 0.5 per cent of GDP, but critics point out that the figures are likely to get worse after Brexit actually kicks in from 2019, with the real impact likely after a transition period ends in 2021."

The comment by Carney was unqualified.  The reduction in GDP will have been caused by a multitude of things.  He blames it on Brexit to bolster his cause.

Project fear at it's subtle best.

"since the referendum", not as a result of the referendum. GDP grows, GDP shrinks.

We read the post, but we're trying to explain to you the irrelevance of it.

Money well spent if it encourages them to stay at home.

Do you want to quote any figures for the foreign aid budget, and how much gets spent with British companies?

i’d rather spend money with Oxfam to make Syria a better place to live, than with BAe to make it worse

So the state of the economy is irrelevant, nothing like a bit of head in the sand. Note the word "poor".

While Britain’s growth rate was among the highest for advanced economies in 2016, it slipped towards the bottom of the 2.3 per cent average of these nations last year as Europe recovered. This year the 1.6 per cent forecast growth rate is poor relative to the 2.5 per cent average in advanced economies.

BAe produces workplaces and pays taxes which can then be given out as foreign aid to repair the damage done, God works in mysterious ways.

Another own goal from the government that the brexieers have put so much faith in. If it wasn't so serious it could be like something out of 'Yes Prime Minister'. Brings the whole immigration issue into question.

Thousands of landing cards – recording dates of arrival in the UK – were thrown away, despite staff warnings that it would be harder for Caribbean-born residents to establish their right to be in the UK.

The files were discarded in October 2010, when the current prime minister was home secretary, a former Home Office employee revealed.
