They don't have any law/rule/regulations, they make up their own.

Therefore we carry copies only.

Yes copies in the car or under bike seat    original Blue/Green books safely at home + copies backed up in a computer or smart phone.

I don't know what the law is, but I have lived here for a number of years and when I arrived I was advised to always carry a copy of the green/blue book and insurance policy, both compulsory and any other insurance you may have, Class 1 etc. for whatever vehicle I was riding/driving.  So whether I am driving my car, big bike or scooter, I always have a copy of same with the vehicle.  I have been stopped a few times, but only ever asked for it once and when I produced a copy, there was no issue whatsoever.

UPDATE:
The Mrs went to see the BiB to pay the fine, and had it explained to her that carrying at least a copy of the Green/Blue book in the vehicle is mandatory by law. Apparently there is even a notice up in the police station saying the same.
But as we all know, it is basically just another way to extract a few more baht, even if the bike is all legal, you are all helmeted up,  carrying your licence and insurance docs.

I've been stopped by police all across Thailand maybe more than a hundred times.

I have been asked for the green book once. Didn't have it, also didn't have a copy, was no problem.

If they could issue a fine for it i'm sure one of them would have tried it. So i'm quite sure that they can't fine you for not carrying it with you.

You are reguired by law to carry a copy of your green or blue registration book in your vehicle.

Yes, a police officer can fine you for not having a copy in your vehicle.

This law is decennia old.:welcomeani:

Its a daft law as copies can be faked really easy, maybe that's why police haven't asked to see it the last 11 times

Yeah,well it is the law.

I've never been asked to show green or blue book too.

Got some citations but never asked for any book of whatever colour. :clap2:
