Shinawatra siblings ‘should be ashamed’, says Prayut

What particularly grates is the fact that Yinluck (and I'm not a supporter of the Shinawatras) has been judged guilty because the rice scam/fiasco/theft happened on her watch, however we are now seeing that the distribution of many millions of baht of government funds to the poor has been pilfered/diverted by corrupt officials and this is under the little generals watch, so is he any different and will he be prosecuted??

^^^^^^^^

This. Sums it up very nicely. Supporters of the junta should stop for a moment and let that sink in.

And for clarity, like xylophone, I have no leanings toward the Shinawatras. Just not blinded by the hypocrisy of it all.

Not sure whether you meant immunity or impunity, however they both fit.............   They overthrew a democratically elected government; have promised to crack down on corruption but as yet

  • Beggars belief what the PM comes out with.......   clean up your own backyard first would be a good idea.....

So much nonsense from this lot in charge now...not to mention duplicity in so many things. Sometimes I can't believe the locals have swallowed such blatant BS for so long from them. The sooner the dinosaurs go the better off Thailand will be for the future. They even think Connect Four, Bridge and Darts are a treat to their idea of turning the clock back. How about looking at the real problems here? They should all be in jail.

I am not really a big fan of his; but, Prayut is right here. Well, the siblings SHOULD feel ashamed; but they don't and they won't. I can think of some other high-level politicians who also don't have much sense of shame : Trump, Erdogan, Duterte.......

What's the difference?

The Thaksins were both chosen by the Thai people and popular throughout.  There's at least two differences.  The one who should be in jail is Prayuth and his cronies.

He wasn't wearing a friend's watch. He has a collection of luxury watches that if sold, could pay for a small hospital. Why, in the face of all evidence to the contrary do the junta-philes continue to clutch at straws and attempt to defend the indefensible? Is it just the psychotic obsession with Thaksin?

No, it's a practical, planned and convenient obsession with Thaksin designed to take the spotlight off their own crimes. By continually obsessing over Thaksin they are hoping no one will notice what they are really up to. They really are playing the public for fools. It's highly insulting to his own people who begrudgingly follow along lest they are thrown in jail.

It's pure and unsophisticated propaganda.

Which law did he break?

seriously?

I am quite surprised he dares talking about lawbreakers. He himself is quite clearly and with indisputable evidence a lawbreaker, one that enjoys an amnesty for his crimes, because "I am the law, I can do whatever" or words to that effect.

I can honestly say that he should be far more ashamed than the Shinawatra sibblings.

At least his incompetent agents now know where Yingluck is :)

I was never a fan of the Shins but what we have now is much, much worse, and I sincerely hope they continue popping up smiling in photos from various spots abroad, just because I have no doubt it infuriates the man-child to no end. The quote from the man-child in the report says it all. He initially states, “I don’t have any feeling about them."... and in the same breath he says: "They should have been ashamed. They broke the law and they still dare to go out", which completely  contradicts the first statement.

Oh yes, of course he is lying, he is afraid of them, that's why Yingluck was "allowed" to "leave" . You bet your ass that he would not have let her go if he didn't fear she would be more of a threat to him from behind bars then from abroad.

On the one hand, I would like democracy (true democracy, not what is proposed for Thailand with the current consitution and 20 year roadmap) to return, on the other hand, I would miss Prayuth and Prawit, because their lies are simply highly amusing. I have to say I respect them for keeping a straight face. I bet once the cameras are off, they piss themselves behind the curtain..

Tuck a few million under the little general's watch, or his #2 guy's?  Like tucking a few bills under a dancer's garter belt at a titty bar?  Maybe these guys are saving up so they can go somewhere like the Shinawatra clan and have a good time.

Watches.

Nope, it´s not! It´s a necessity in a country that lacks the knowledge of the democracy they all say they want.

No shame - whole world know what a joke Thai courts are

The Shins have been very open about their whereabouts.....on tv in Japan and China and have been prime for arresting..but....Thailand does exactly nothing to have them brought back to face their so called legal cases.

Internationally, the cases against the Shinawatra siblings have been widely accepted as purely political, like it or not.

The junta and the elite are pretty darn weak...scared of international condemnation...and even more worried about the power the Shins wield....and all caused by the elite and their ever lasting hatred of this family....which is verging on infantile!

Depends where the instruction came from to stage a coup.

Why should the Shin siblings feel any shame at all?

They played the game Thai way and my way while in power.

I think this gov craps itself everytime they hear the name, Shinawatra ...

Verging on psychotic.

I think they are well passed ‘verging'

It’s almost obsessional to the point of madness.

I like to think it’s just a case of the Shin’s actually found a way to manipulate the electorate to feather their own nests in a rather too transparent way.

The excepted rule was that you told the masses what to think then you and your ilk proceeded to milk the State.

Taksin decided that he would appeal to the masses with the tried and trusted method of western politics, bribe the populous with some giveaways...health care, roads, nothing that really bothered the BKK elite, while filling his own pockets.

The difference between the Shins and the rest, it’s not that they are any more corrupt than the rest, they are, it’s just that they had the temerity to actually buy the peoples love by actually doing something to help them

Thats why the established elite hate them with a passion

Yes the Shins are shameless and extremely corrupt.  They stole billions from the state coffers. They used their supporters to fight with the army.  Many died for the Shins. Truly disgusting individuals who do EVERYTHING to enrich themselves. Remember Thaksin's famous words: "Don't be afraid to fight with the army. You start and I will follow you.  I am very near to you. Don't be afraid"  Thaksin, the coward, was ofcourse in Dubai....

Then you have Yingluck who's only purpose was to look innocent and to facilitate corruption for Thaksin's buddies and to whitewash Thaksin from all his crimes.

Show the receipts made or stop spreading your slandering nonsense.

If you think that buying votes is the democratic way of winning an election you have a long way to go.

And if you think that not paying tax and buying the land where Swampy airport was planned to sell it for 5 times the original price is fair you come from another planet as me.

Those siblings offended soo many laws that they even are not welcome in Japan where they liked to buy a house, also not in London and Sidney. I bet they're in the plane now before Japan is kindly asking them to leave because they don't want to ruin their good reputation.

Look Thailand, we have no friends left, only 2 of us here in Tokyo enjoying all the money we stole from you....have to go now, see a policecar coming...byeeee...

Somebody should tell him, in  countries not badly administered by a junta consisting of political amateurs, people are granted some rights. For example: they are allowed to walk and talk in public, read what they want, and vote for their leaders in free and fair elections.

But this PM is so good because he has taken away both bridge and darts, bravo!
