New to the area, and very busy would really appreciate someone in chaiyaphum area that can help with taking me around to do some light shopping and errands :]

I'm from Florida and will be back and forth here for a while. I'd like to meet some english speakers in the area and don't mind if you just need someone to practice english with or don't mind paying some compensation for your time to help shop.

Compared to Farangs, Thai-Ladies make better shopping companions. You may find that half of the stuff bought is useless junk, but the shopping experience with a Thai-Lady is far more fun than with a Farang.

Cheers.

You are talking about one of the poorest areas of Thailand

I really wish people would post facts not myths.

"While the Northeast includes provinces with little poverty, such as Chaiyaphum, Nong Khai, and Ubon Ratchathani, it also has the poorest provinces with the largest number of poor people, such as Buriram, Sisaket, and Surin."

That is not a myth - Issan is a very poor region and although there are more people below the poverty line in those mentioned provinces 33/35/25% it does not make Chaiyaphum, with 23% of population living below poverty line and with expenses higher than income any less poor.

Grow up and quote all the figures, don't cherry pick.

Income per Capita, Baht:39,049.1 (2011)

Poverty Line, Baht/Person/Month:2,084 (2011)

Poverty Ratio, % of Population below Poverty Line:23.76 (2011)

Any fool, (apart from you it would seem), can read the data and see the income is high, and the poverty line is stupidly low.

When you learn to read statistics, come back and comment.

I provided the poverty percentage - if you want to quote income amounts they are below and as stated expenditures exceed income - not good.

  • Average Monthly Income per Household, Baht:15,794.3 (2011)
  • Average Monthly Expenditure per Household, Baht:16,090 (2012)

Dear Daetn, I hope you've found somebody to help you in the meantime. If not, try posting on one of the Thai sites/forums e.g. pantip.com seems to be very popular with Thais. It's all in Thai, but maybe some body can help you place an add there.

Alternatively, if the stores you go to have a notice board, post an add there. Your chances of finding a Thai on this site are minimal.

Good luck.
