Car glass coating, worth paying 30000+ when a bottle costs less than 5000 ? Perfect Thai scam...

Scam?

No worse than paying $1,000 for an IPhone that costs less than $200 to manufacture.

The appropriate price for a business to charge for their product is the price that maximizes their ROI.  Businesses that need to price their product on a cost plus basis are generally not nearly as profitable as those who price based on the value their customers perceive.  That's why there are Gucci bags, Rolex watches, IPhones, $50,000 a year prescription medicines, and 2000 baht breakfast buffets.

And, apparently, 30,000 baht glass treatment, using coating materials that probably cost 100 baht to make, and sell for 5,000 baht.

As long as you are happy with it, no problem. Although I was not aware head linings on cars included insulation.

my BMW 740Li has aircondition ducts and outlets in the car's ceiling for rear set passengers and that requires an excellent insulation.

the beamer's horse power and torque are more than sufficient for Thailand's sh*tty roads and the car is only used with our driver. needless to say that i enjoy it more and more sitting relaxed in the rear seat not caring about the traffic and brain-amputated motorbike drivers. the Benz is now exclusively used by the Mrs.

Mercedes and BMW paint is of "far better quality than Japanese manufacturers paint"?  Really?  The depth of your lack of knowledge is astounding!

Right, its just something that everybody knows and very easy to compare, bring you $hit jap box on wheel and I bring my benz. How can people be so ridiculous to talk about what they will never be able to purchase is beyond understanding.

I also know insulation does not stop heat transfer - it only slows it down.

If you leave your car in the sun for twenty minutes, it may still be cool when you get back in. Leave it for 4 hours in the sun while you play golf, and the difference insulation makes is minimal. You are better off leaving a window partially down to let the heat escape. Or perhaps you know that already.

If you have doubts about black bodies vs. reflective white bodies, here's a simple experiment - sit on a motor scooter with a silver or mesh cover that's been in the sun. Then do the same with a scooter with a plain black seat. When your testicles have recovered, let me know.

Strange these people always exposing yet another scam in Thailand.

<groan>

Many business around the world have high charges to allow for overheads, cost of equipment, rent, labour etc.

and (hello) they actually do need to make some money or may as well stay at home!

but when its Thailand people seem to think a business should make nothing or its a scam.lol

last time i had a car, in (another) country, in that place the mechanic boss charges

$140 per hour labour

all parts needed + added 200 or 300% of the cost to charge you. pure profit for nothing!

and the poor guy who just working there, well he gets about $15 hour.

thats what i call a scam!

This is also called capitalizm, charge whatever you can away with. Happens hr, happens in 99% of western counties.

Nike / Adidas sports shoes, new models, cost US$ to make in China or India, on sale in Los Angeles, New York, London.... for US$1,000 and sold out. And nobody complains, capitalism at work.

Plus many times the sellers have been berated in regard to child labour etc.

Their response 'we didn't know', we'll fix that immediately.

Nothing happens, nobody cares.

When the next big sale for the new model?

I was thinking that it was clear for anybody not totally insane that black cars get hot faster than white cars ?

What is your problem? I love my car, I like the black color, I have never a heat problem in my car and airco always on minimum. Just a great car with an amazing 700HP engine. I had many cars but this is far the best.
My testicles can be cooled if wanted, these seats are aircooled as well.
I was on this thread just to give some information to the OP, not for bickering.

No problem at all. I just happen to think differently to you, based on a scientific background.

I would be extremely disappointed if a car with 700HP on tap was unable to run an airconditioner effectively.

I am very happy with the result, this is the only thing that counts.

I like it ? I had my car "wrapped" about three years ago, one thing worth checking is that they have left the drains (holes) open in the doors, they wrapped over mine! noticed when the water started running out when it was bone dry! They were holding a lot of water, so far - no damage apparent!

Mine is longer, believe me.

Mine is only 10 CM longer than standard , same length as a Silver Spur.  The MPW Royce was an extra 24" - 60 CM. As this engine wasnt turbo-charged , it must have been "leisurely"

It was actually 45k but this is good for 5-7y. This was for a big car.

You would spend much more for glass coating during that time..

good price assumimg a proper job was done. i paid last year 65k to "blacken" our white Benz and now the Mrs is bitching and wants "her" car pure white again.

Shop can remove the wrap, don’t try yourself!
A few years ago, my wife was on business trip and I took her car to garage for sporty striping, color leather seats partly red and parts of dashboard. When she came back she was very pissed off and garage had to reverse to original...lesson learned

Picture doesn’t reveal how beautiful the wrap is, my wife likes it but declined for her own car:)
I have to add that it is much easier to maintain and dirt is not that obvious.
Again for me it was the perfect solution.
By the way, normally you can’t change the color of your car without re-registration.

Do all owners of BMW & Mercedes have an attitude like yours?

Does it come after purchasing them, or the attitude makes you choose them?

Just askin' as I dont know...

Isn't it about time certain members started their own post if they want to continue with all this crap that is no way related to the original post ?

Yes, yes, I know I can just ignore, but I happen to be interested in genuine replies to the OP. Becoming a waste of time & BORING with the private spat going on.
