Sandwichgate: Moo Yong turns out to be Kai Yong - not Pampers!

The Ubon department of public health has reported its findings in a sandwich scandal that originated in the north-eastern Thai province.

Residents of Bua Ngam sub-district thought something was up when their popular "Moo Yong" sandwiches tasted nothing like shredded pork.

I fact so hard were they to chew and so sticky that some thought they were possibly trying to munch on cotton wool, maybe from children's throwaway nappies called Pampers.

The Ubon health bods swung into action deciding quickly that it was not cotton wool but it was not pork either. DNA tests showed that the origin turned out to be chicken.

The mystery deepened when it was discovered that "kai yong" (or shredded chicken) is not made in the province.

A check of all sandwich shops is now underway as the source of the filling is identified for sure.

Just looking at this: Why would anybody would want to eat that?

Thailand has lots of delicious food. "Thai style" sandwiches are not part of that.

A good sandwich need high quality bread and ingredients. It's impossible to make good cheap sandwiches.

I miss normal sandwiches with margarine, and filling between 2 slices.

Not filling between all slices like here.

Just crazy what Thais accept without comment.

Thais don't eat sandwiches.

Yes, the yellow/brown colored stuff looks like it could originate from used nappies.

"A check of all sandwich shops is now underway as the source of the filling is identified for sure." - so the boys will be busy for the next 18 years then. Next is Pizza, as all that local crap has nothing to do with a pizza; then it's the hot dog content ......... but by then most of us won't be alive anymore!

I also did not know, that anyone in his right mind would know the taste of "children's throwaway nappies called Pampers."

I had a ham and cheese family Mart special last night cuz the fridge was empty and it stopped the gurgling.

So it was fine in that respect.
