Plus the medical seem low in the event of a big accident

Any advice would be appreciated and any recommendations of other companies to try

Thanks

Looks about right, medical is low here, its Thai price rather than falang bumped up medical bill cover.

My cover is the same for my Click, 4000 premium, 41000 theft cover, rest is the same

"... 1 driver & 1 passenger ..."   So the rest of the family is out of luck?

Seriously, does anyone offer a policy with significantly higher coverage?

Two children under the age of 10 (?) count as one passenger according to Thai law ?

The policy looks normal, that they insure only 80% is also normal.

ok guys, thanks for the replies,

looks like i will go for this then.

Just never heard of not covering the list price in the case of right off, and not sure what the level of medical will cover, a few plasters and stitches ?

Replacement cost vs. actual cash value

When the vehicle is out of the show room the actual cash value is considered to be 80% here in Thailand ?

I think quite common in most countries.

In Germany it's possible to insure it for the new price within for example the first year, but that's only common if you buy on finance. In Thailand i didn't see this yet, at least not for motorbikes (never looked at car insurances), for motorbikes the 80% are standard

A good personal accident insurance is better for medical, max I've seen is 625,000 per accident which is more farang price.

Govt insurance is 30,000, 1st class 50,000, total 80,000 won't cover anything serious

You should be happy with that 1st class cover.

I only have 80% for right off and 100% for thief and CTPL.

Depends on what state your but some cover is better than nothing you could get extra personal motorcycle accident cover separate if you want last one I had was 2000 baht.

Not motorcycle accident related but OK to laugh I fell out of bed and fracture my left-hand left wrist joint, went gov hospital 800 baht, the expense is terrible as everybody says. ?

Damm 10 K !

Are you sure you wana go for a premium ?

If you take a lower insurance you would have the same coverage without the  "Own damage" section and it would cost around 2K (it's what i'm paying for my CB400SF)

Like someone said, medical coverage is always very low, Thai insurances are not THAT crazy, they would go bankrupt after 3 days if they were giving 1 million THB or so for personal accidents / medical expenses.

Get a real health insurance, or pray that when you'll crash 1) The other guy will be wrong 2)He won't hit and run 3)He'll have a premium insurance which will cover your medical bills.

What's MSIG stands for !?

That was "Asia insurance" you can find their website here , there's an "english" version but not everything is translated :

https://www.asiainsurance.co.th/en/

It looks like you can't buy it online, last year i bought it at the counter in a kind of private bike / car control center where you can get your bike checked / pay the VAT and buy insurances.

Yep it's think their website is f**** up.

I'm looking at my insurance paper right now and for 1,999 THB there is a 100,000 THB bail bond.

I think they kind of forgot to display it on their website.

I got it through a broker before MisterprakenBroker for my Versys when it was 5 year old, at the time couldn't get Class 1 insurance for a 5 year old bike which I thought was stupid but there ya go.

Don't know if it's changed these days..

I wonder how much bail bond usually is for a bike accident, my 1st class covers 300,000 baht. I read that what ever is recommended they double it for farang, sounds about right.

For me if I'm going to pay 2000+ i might as well go 1st class for 4000

As for bail bond lets hope it's not needed, I guess something amount is better than nowt.

That's good for 1st class if you can at that price get it while you can.

Just renewed the insurance, it still have 100K THB bail bound.

I would rather take a 2+ insurance and take a real health insurance for 12K / Year if i was you (OP).

One of those for ex, probably not the best but still handy :

But if you want the real stuff you need to pay like twice the prices above.

Let's be honest these policies are not enough for farang, but they give some people peace of mind

Yep i know but it's still something in case of accident.

I would rather have this + lower bike insurance instead of nothing + grade A insurance which doesn't cover your medical expenses.

Usually people buy class 1 insurance for the cover of their bike / car, not for the health insurance part

For cars yes obviously, for 300CC bikes / in Thailand, i don't know (not for me at least).

The OP seemed concerned / surprised by the low medical expenses coverage, that's why i'm saying this.

Ex a "real insurance" would be more like that one (old quote anyway, probably a bit more expensive now) :\\

That's of course a "local" one, won't cover much if you travel to EU but that's not the purpose here.

That's better than nothing but my health insurance for hospital stay only is @ 32,000 per annum and we would be going off topic. ????

nope
the O P is still here

but has already got and paid for the insurance

does these medical insurances shown  cover the old gits ? those closer to 70 ?

yes , surprised about the low medical, but also the low replacement value too

but not much point in insuring a bike for 10,000 replacement when its worth 168,000, as in the class 2 insurance shown

but thanks anyway, have already bought and paid this time, will look closer when it comes to renewal

The medical coverage per person is 50,000 + 30,000 compulsory. Age doesn't seem to be relevant for bike insurance in Thailand
