Flu

Featured Replies

Anyone out there had flu very recently?

I usually don't get too bad with it but this last really knocked me down for a couple of days.

Started with the usual drippy nose and eyes then by the second day left me with the strength of a may-fly.

Don't usually take anything for flu but had to this time. Just starting to feel better today, 4th day.

Next time you go near someone with flu, or get that slight tickle on the back of your throat - try taking zinc tablets. Too late for you now unfortunately, but good advise for the future.

Wear a mask if you travel by local bus or minibus - don't be shy.

Try High C one tab if you feel possible symptoms.

Yes, this year seems bad, weather again very strange.

I use alternative therapies etc to help avoid / treat cold symptoms.

Just stayed home and didn't go out anywhere for the 3 days.

Redoxan, sold in all pharmacies, evervescent tablets containing zinc and Vit C. I swear but it.

(and, of course, get your annual flu shots!)

You swear by it ?

i have it now.5 days so far and off the grog. First time in years I didn't have a flu shot. Reckon another 2 days and i will be about.

My wife and son have just had it. Wife was really bad, a couple of nights in hospital, but son not so bad, maybe because he had the vaccine. Think my wife was so bad because of the stupendous amount of drugs the doctor gave her and taking them all at once, vomiting etc. I teach English to two doctors and they just laughed, said only paracetamol, antihistamines and bit c + zinc worth taking. The anti viral drugs are useless for the flu. ( wife and kids were swab tested for flu a ).

Means he thinks it the best. And uses it all the time when he not feelin too good.

Yup, had this a few weeks ago.

Started of with runny nose, slight sore throat that then progressed to me feeling awful (& grumpy).

Going to make an order with iherb today for Milk Thistle, so I'll add some Zinc tabs too.

I cured mine with honey n lemon juice....Slurp honey into mouth  some lemon/lime juice as many times a day u like....gone in 8 days....

I haven't had flu or been sick in Bangkok for years.   Don't even get colds.

Paracetamol/Vit C and hot honey & lemon - that helps me when I get colds/flu. Will try Zinc as first I have heard that it may help and getting yearly flu shot today...

Just plenty of rest and some decongestants.

The vitamin C to speed up recovery is a urban myth.  You just have to ride it out.

I am lucky I have only had the flu once in my life.  And, I never have had a flu jab either.
