Police in Udon Thani have announced the arrest of a 35 year old Loei man after a savage attack on a 60 year old woman.

Kaysorn Suksabai was hit three times on the head from behind as she prepared to ride off on her bike after putting money on her phone.

She needed many stitches to a head wound.

The incident last weekend was caught on CCTV that was shown repeatedly on Thai national television.

Police soon discovered that the assailant was Anusorn Sawat, 35, from Pha Khao district of Loei and issued an arrest warrant.

Yesterday he was arrested at his wife's house in Saraburi.

He said that he had helped out the victim who was having trouble putting money on her phone outside a mini mart in Nong Bua sub-district of Udon.

He said he had lost his job as a ceramic worker after an accident and could work no more.

He said he had gone to the area with his wife to visit relatives but she had gone home first. He had spent all his money on alcohol and he decided on the spur of the moment to attack the woman with a piece of wood that he picked up.

He stunned reporters by saying that he only meant to whack her once. But she wouldn't fall to the ground so he had to hit her twice more.

He stole 1,000 baht, reported Daily News.

He has been charged with aggravated assault and theft and detained.

Why are the excuses always so pitiful? These low life people always want to try to put part of the blame on the victim. Can none of them actually accept responsibility for their awful actions?

An accident that damaged his brain?

Not buying his “ only meant to hit her once “ plea !!

His intention was to hit her until she went down aiding the robbery !!

A vicious cowardly attack on a defenceless victim .

Scumbag !

Despite his dumb explanation, he didn't even give her time to go down after the first hit.

Yrs, his limbs, unfortunately, seem to be fine.

It's a cultural short coming. They learn it from the soap operas as they are growing up.

you think he has a brain ?

I hope this scumbag gets a nice long holiday in Bangkok Hilton where I am sure he will be very deservedly treated by his fellow inmates

which make me think what a fair punishment would be...

There is a real problem with Thai men.. But very few are prepared to acknowledge it. Sadly when I reflect on this and look at what Kampuchea was like, it gives me shivers...

Nope.

Once again a perfectly reasonable explanation.

He lost his job , but spent all his money on drinking.

Instead of getting a new job, he decided to rob someone.

All totally logical and reasonable.????

To be fair, rice whiskey served by your local Mom & Pop store in a 'Red Bull/M150' bottle is only 10 or 20bht.

You don't need much money to get falling down drunk here.

(What, you thought they were really drinking M150?)

Maybe if he would of had the option of smoking ganja rather than drinking that paint thinner it's possible it wouldn't of happened? Booze isn't the ultimate evil but with some folks it brings the devil out.

it was a mugging pure and simple,if she had been wearing a helmet, well on reflection it could have been worse i guess he probably would have knifed her.

Call me a low life scumbag, but I thought the title of the article "I only meant to hit her once but she wouldn't go down.", was funny.

Sometimes life in the intellectual gutter has its moments.

Locked up for a couple of hours inside the kiln at his former workplace...

His intention is to kill her, he should be charged and punished severely. Nasty guy

If this creep was being truthful, he would have left it at that. But, since there was intent to harm, he hit her multiple times. What can one even say? Who hits a woman, much less an older woman? What kind of man does this? Who were his parents, and did they fail in such a dramatic manner?

Back room 3 whacks with a piece of wood then an injection.... next case

That just might be true..

If he smoked ganja-Yarndi in Australian parlance-he might have just been a poorly motivated, ill educated loser bludging of any hard working female he could find..

And the incipient paranoia wouldn't be a bother as,after all.he'd be on the internet all day anyway.

But wait..for some reason or another they still get locked up after punching their mothers out over the pension checks...

Strange that.

Why is it so cheap? Is there no tax on it? Then why is it not illegal and hunted for by the police?

Every village has an illegal still going 24/7.

You'd have to ask the police why they only enforce some laws.
