webfact Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Blood on the sidewalk: "Careless" Aussie pensioner in nasty fall Pictures: Sanook A 70 year old Australian pensioner fell on South Sathorn road after stumbling over an exposed bit of pipe. The accident left "Robert" needing hospital treatment - and a few bloodstains on the sidewalk. He hurt his shin and suffered an injury to his knee. Mekha Rescue attended the scene after being alerted via JS 100 radio station on Twitter. The accident occurred between the area of Soi Suanphlu and Soi Convent by a pedestrian footbridge. Local district chief Chuleeporn Wongphak went to the scene and there was some confusion as to the provenance of the sharp pipe. After checking the electrics to a phone box and digital sign it was decided to cut the PVC pipe to make it flush with the sidewalk. Robert said it was all his own fault. He was being a bit too hasty and careless as he rushed to get a motorcycle taxi. He did not intend to sue, reported Sanook. Source: Sanook -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2018-11-29

evadgib Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Those paving slabs are otherwise flat whereas the ones here (Samui) haven't seen a spirit level & the awnings render walking impossible if taller than Warwick Davis.
worgeordie Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 He should have sued !, without it costing somebody, nothing is going to change, its a wonder a lot more people are not injured or killed, with low hanging electric wires,or the ones insulted with a plastic bag,on the floor during the rainy season, paths with uneven surfaces, holes ,you walk not knowing which is best to look up or down. regards worgeordie 2

Or in other words, why would anybody take the action / supervise the actions that put it there and why would they leave it like this. Just not common sense. 3

Popular Post zaphod reborn Posted November 29, 2018 Popular Post Posted November 29, 2018 So many dangerous pedestrian conditions on the sidewalks in Thailand. Here's a fire plug in the middle of a very busy sidewalk, across the street from Terminal 21 and near the train stations on Sukhumvit. I have personally witnessed several people run into the fire plug and seriously injure their knee, where an ambulance was needed to take them to the hospital. All because the Thai highways division can't be arsed to move the plug onto the Westin's property (who benefits from the fire suppression equipment) or next to the electric boxes where they wouldn't be in the trafficked area of the sidewalk. 3 1

Too bad it wasn't Bill Gates who tripped over the pipe... lol There was a story the other day about a girl getting hit by a motorbike on the pavement. The moto taxis near me were pushing their bikes yesterday along the pavement. I was impressed until today when they were back to riding them down the pavements again. Nothing will change, as nothing much has done since bill gates had a moan about the wires. It is what it is ???? 1

So as a 70 yr old is that how you want to spend your final years???

toofarnorth Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Quite a common one up here in the styx , where there are hills , is the brick in the road , vehicle breaks down , a brick is put behind a wheel to stop the vehicle rolling back , vehicle fixed then driven away leaving the brick in the road. 1
