Documentary - The Internet’s Dirtiest Secrets: The Cleaners he Internet’s Dirtiest Secrets: The Cleaners

This one from the Beeb was a real eye opener.

Summary: The Cleaners tells the story of a giant shadow industry with hundreds of thousands of “content moderators” in the Philippines who delete undesirable pictures and videos from the internet.

Tv series: The Bay

This new 6 part drama is receiving some good reviews.
Episode 1 is available.

Summary: When Detective Sergeant Lisa Armstrong is assigned to a missing persons investigation in Morecambe Bay, at first it seems like any other – tragic, but all too familiar. As a police Family Liaison Officer, she's trained never to get emotionally involved, but there's something very different about this particular case.

I watched The Cleaners last night, as recommended by Will - aka Barry Norman. ????

I just didn't realise how much moderation etc was required on t'internet. In the PI, they have to view 25000 images/day - I think my mind would have been warped, having to look at the filth, the horror.

Is everything we view or do, somehow engineered by Social Media, for political or consumerism?

It really is interesting.

Thanks faraday, I had to look up who Barry Norman was though:smile:

Did the moderators have to review or delete 25 000 images per day?

Either way, it's a lot.

What about some of the beheadings and child porn?

It's a stressful job that's for sure.

Documentary - Thud Pilots

Really enjoyed this one.

Summary: An edge-of-your-seat documentary that exposes the Vietnam Air War where an elite band
of brothers known as Thud Pilots fought and died receiving neither the country's support nor glory.

Dragged Across Concrete

about a couple of bad cops...nice if you like gritty, slow paced stuff.

also check out "Inventor- Out for blood in Silicon Valley"

about tech wiz Elizabeth Holmes' failed med tech venture that took a lot of people for a ride.

Just watched it last night.

It was infuriating how they were shutting people down with lawsuit threats and/or actual lawsuits.

There's no free speech if someone/a company has deep pockets and will force a whistleblower to go broke defending themself for telling the truth.

I started watching a Scandinavian series last night, it has subtitles, produced by UK's ITV

Greyzone - This high-octane thriller follows the events leading up to a terror-attack in Scandinavia. Borgen's Birgitte Hjort Sørensen stars as Victoria, a brilliant drone engineer who is taken hostage by terrorists in her own home, while the Secret Services in Denmark and Sweden are fighting against the clock to prevent an attack.

Tv series - The Yorkshire Ripper Files: A Very British Crime Story

Episode 1 is out there.

Summary: Director Liza Williams’s three-part exposé of what went wrong with the lengthy investigation into the murders committed by Peter Sutcliffe makes for compelling, shocking television. Beginning in 1975, the opener shows how police might have apprehended Sutcliffe (and thus saved lives) after the first two murders had they not ignored vital evidence on the grounds that it didn’t fit the victim profile of “prostitute”. Continues daily until Thursday.

Trapped season 2 with hard-coded subs now available on TPB.

Season 1 was very good.

Summary: In a remote town in Iceland, Police desperately try to solve a crime as a powerful storm descends upon the town.

I'm trying, two episodes in.  The production is good, but the police officers are painfully and stunningly stupid.

Searching "Blinded by the Lights" goes there.

(I posted this right when faraday was responding).

Thanks. It really annoys me when someone posts a movie or TV show without saying either where it's available or in this case what the original name is, making it almost impossible to find.

You're welcome.

But as I mentioned, if you searched for "Blinded by the Lights", you would have found it (in parentheses).

As far as where available, I think the feeling is it's better to keep that off a public forum and give further info as faraday did, by pm.

My mistake I entered without inverted commas.

Entering 'Blinded by the Lights" into PB search gets no hits.

I've had strange searches on PB in the past.

In this case it takes me to the correct page with 2 entries.

But there have been times when I will see a film listed on the 1st page of new listings, and I am interested but want to see what other copies if any are available.

So I do a search for the film name which I just saw on page 1, and get "Nothing found" - not even the one I'd just seen.

Yes I know what you mean. I now use different pb servers; such as pb.icu or pb.10. Even so, sometimes there's nowt found.

It really annoys me, are we not allowed to download no more? The fact that it's illegal & I don't d/l has nuffink to do with it.

Ok, I'll shut up now.
