Strengthening tropical system to threaten Vietnam, Thailand with flooding rain

After inundating the Philippines with deadly flooding, disruptive tropical weather now has its sights set on Indochina.

Tropical Depression 35W, locally Usman in the Philippines, impacted the nation late last week.

Catarman, Philippines, received 470 mm (18.5 inches) of rain in less than 48 hours from Friday into Saturday. Rainfall also topped 300 mm (12 inches) in Alabat and Legazpi City.

As of Monday, more than 60 people have died and at least 17 remain missing, according to BBC News. This is mainly due to mudslides triggered by the heavy rain in Benguet province.

Looks like it will affect other areas of Thailand a lot more than Phuket.

Up here in Isaan, it has only rained once since 16th September. We could do with a drop.

Hard to tell

It could change course and come a bit further south, then it would be a direct hit on phuket, too early to tell

looks unlikely though

Surat Thani (-> Ko Samui) included over the whole period.

And " Isolated torrential downpours" is about the strongest wording they use in the warnings.

Not much different at our area.

Some drizzle last week or so.

But cool/windy.

forecast to pass slightly to the south of Koh Samui this Friday at 14:00. unfortunately that means more rain and wind for the islands.

Of course the TMD is always so accurate with their Phuket weather forecasts... Yeah, right!

The windy.com hurricane tracker has an interesting forecast.

I got first ever notice from my foreign ministry regarding the Pabuk storm.

It's going to be interesting Friday evening and Saturday morning if the predictions are correct.
