Look at the Thai average wage  for professionals who are likely to want to play golf on their own courses and you have your answer.  if you don't like it, don't go.

Hmmm....just wondering if foreigners who are Thailand residents get the Thai price.  This is often the case with places that have dual pricing.

In a fishing place (Bungsamran) you get Thai price if you show up with a Thai driving license or workpermit ect.

you can blame several expat individuals who run golf trips/outings for this, they are in partnership with the owners/managers of golf courses and get a percentage of the fees - been going on for years with prices getting higher and higher for foreigners.

yep, and these expats act as if they are doing the suckers a favour.

While you are 100% correct, your information is not welcome as these dual pricing threads are supposed to be used by the thai bashers to work each other into a frenzy. Most of who would be too tight to pay for a round of golf anyway.

If you show up, ask in thai, show them your thai drivers licence, they will always give you the local rate.

Not a bad deal, considering it includes a nights accomodation and breakfast thrown in.

The first business who does it the other way around gets my patronage, even when i don't want/need their product.

If you find one, enjoy it while it lasts.  They won't stay in business very long.  If everyone paid the Thai price, they'd be jam packed and still not make enough to maintain a decent level of service.  If everyone paid the higher price, they'd be like a ghost town and not bring in enough revenue to maintain the facilities.

There are excellent business reasons for offering multiple levels of pricing.  Look up "overhead absorption" and "incremental revenue".  And it's done all over the world.
