It is possible he could have made a mistake with the dates, anyone can do that. Although he put his hand up, no one knows the full reason for his overstay.

Why does anyone need to know? ????????

If you purchase ticket for the person, will the Airline insist on seeing the credit card that was used to pay for the ticket at the check in desk? some airlines at Bangkok airport observe this rule more than others

Theoretically this could happen, but i doubt they would do it when somebody is deported (does this person even check in at the regular counter?). Never in my life have i been asked to show the credit card that i used to buy a ticket, so highly unlikely

This happened on board a Train (ICE) (Frankfurt to Schwabach) in Germany, many years ago. Only option was to buy another ticket, but the original was refunded many months later with some 'surcharges'.

I don't think that this is what happened, but what happened was: Until a few years ago when buying a "bahn" ticket online you had to select an "identity card" which you would like to show together with your ticket. The default option was "credit card used to purchase this ticket", but you could also change it to "id card" and some other options. You probably left it at the default option and so they wanted to see your credit card when they checked your ticket ????

I'm a bit surprised by positive replies. A family member asks for advice for UK national banged up for overstay and has zero funds. Why can't that family member approach other family/friends to pay overstay and flight. More simple start a gofundme.

I am not saying that this is the case here, but if a person deliberately overstays and gets caught, then anyone who contributes to a gofundme, needs their head looked at.

Where did anyone read that they are asking for financial help or started a gofundme?

Oh wait, people looking for likes?

The same happened to a friend's cousin a few years ago. A Catholic priest p-aid his overstay fine. Th UK Embassy then arranged his flight home but confiscated his passport until the cost of the flight was refunded This guy is a total ar*e and has been disowned by his family

Standard check in desk, with your 'helper.'  If flight is within a short time company to the boarding gate and onto flight. If two or three hours held in the five star hotel downstairs then collected and escorted to the gate until boarded.

The video post inside IDC is unnecessary and unhelpful to the family that is doing the correct thing

Surely a moderator can delete it

If he has no money at all, then you will have also to pay his overstay fine in addition to the plane ticket.

Sophon

Usually a 2 or 3000 baht fine at court.

1. Book the ticket yourself. Embassies traditionally pay full fare

2. Fly direct (the guy who robbed the Singapore bank was arrested in transit in London after release from Thailand and sent to Singapore)

Please follow the information and instructions from the embassy who deal with these situations every day . They are well aware of how things should be done . Do not listen to much of the misleading/ incorrect information being given my many on this forum .

I look forward to the day when I'm asked to contribute to a gofundme. "Ask the Salvos"

Great...so no problem. Pay for flight and all sorted. What help were you asking for. The flight most likely will be direct UK. Not cheap. Done

You seem to suffer an inability to read. The op was clear, as have been the responses.

6 pages to say: Listen only to embassy, you will get choice of 1-2 flights. Pick one of them no matter what cost. Cheers!

Yes, many insist on re-posting answers already supplied.

Yep, that doesn't happen for an overstay.

You don't go to court in Australia for overstaying a visa

In another country.

A lot more to this story.

Plus you can't be handcuffed to a seat on a plane so you can't move in an emergency.

I think he might have had a few VB's before he told you the story.
