Could you post the steps that you took or send me a pm. The laptop boots up enough to use the function keys and I think I can boot it from an external drive or memory stick. I started to download to a usd drive and found that I need a more than 8Gb. Down to the shop tomorrow and buy at least 16Gb if not a 32 Gb.

Created bootable USB media for latest Windows 10 on 8GB stick (7.5GB formatted) using Microsoft creation tool without problems. 2

Thank you for that information. I only have some 4Gb sticks. I have to be in Khampaeng Phet tomorrow for most of the day so I will buy a 16Gb stick.

No wonder he is still at it a week after I gave him the correct solution and twelve days after he posted about the problem. This could have been sorted the day I gave him the solution and also sent him an link to the exacting guide. 1
billd766 Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 My thanks to almost all of you for your help and advice. On Thursday I bought a 16Gb usb stick for 115 baht, formatted it and downloaded Windows 10 on Friday' Today I stuffed it into my annoying laptop and with a few fits and starts I now have Win 10 back again. I used the windows activation code from my desktop and it now seems to be working very well. Thank you once again.????????????
billd766 Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 I now also have my ethernet connection up and running. That was the main reason why I was buggering about with it since it came back from the shop.
Crossy Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 A quick bump of this to say that the link in the OP still works just fine for a free upgrade to W10. 1
Metropolitian Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Good, should try it with one of the two lappies here. Both Windows 7. One already 10 years in my possession, never reinstalled, still spinning. Got the final 'end of support' message a few weeks ago. Have Windows 10 on a AIO workstation which now is the main computer, can tell I was more satisfied with the old laptops and 7.
