What do i say? Go back to isaan and I send you 20,000 baht a month. 

 

Why should she agree when she makes 8,000 basic salary and 50 baht off every lady drink, plus clubs and bars are free entry and drinks are free for her as well. 

 

She is living a 24 year olds dream while getting paid on top to be honest. This doesn't mean she's having sex with other men.

Things can work out strangly. You will never know.

Woman, not only Thai, are looking for a good relation and off course some financial security. 
If you like her, and she likes you, you should support her a little bit, so the relation will keep alive. Nothing wrong with that. The girl you met makes long days as a waitress/hostess and what she receives is not much, normally only a percentage of what customers drink. Of course there is a financial reason she moved from Isaan to the tourist centre. Girls who work in this industry are mostly not proud of what they do, but they do not all have a choice. If you can make her life a little bit easier, that should make you happy also. And hopefully you can give her a good future, together.

Oh buddy. Sounds like my story first time I came here 8 years ago. Same thing. Only work bar 3 months, google translate...the whole bit. I thought I had won the lottery. What I had won was 5 years of hell. I have been living here over 5 years now, know and have met 100's of farang and not once have I seen a happy ending with a bar girl relationship. Nor even an amicable split. They truly are ruined once they have been anywhere near a bar or tourist area for that matter. And no she hasn't been in the bar only serving drinks nor has she been there for only three months. It's very rare they go straight from the village to the farang bars. She was probably working the Thai scene for possibly several years before she graduated to Pattaya. They all say exactly the same thing. You do realise the running gag here with bargirls is "my girl is different"? And don't fall for the bit about her selling her body to help her family. They love it. They thinks it's glamorous and if you see where many of them were born and raised you would understand why. They can sit and eat crap with their friends all day. Play the lottery, cards. All the attention they get. These girls back in their home village would be the bottom rung. All of a sudden they are getting so much attention and have a new found power over men they never had before. They love it and actually miss it when you take them out of that environment. I don't believe any of them make serious money, it's gone virtually as soon as they get it but there's always more. I frequent a farang meeting place here sometimes and there's always a new story of some guy who bought the ex bargirl wife a palatial home, sometimes a business...All the cars etc in her name. An endless effort to appease her. Last guys had spent over ten million baht doing exactly that only to have his "wife" tell him she was bored living with him and wanted to return to Pattaya. The house and anything else you buy will be of no more value to her than the childish show off factor, photos in facebook and bragging rights to the rest of her uneducated village friends. She'll tell you how much she misses living in her village....which she spent most of her life trying to get away from. Most of them have families akin to criminals, have been abused and abandoned most of their lives and are mentally hardened and broken. They have to be hard and callous just to survive the job they do, even surviving their workmates. The most dangerous thing about these girls is they can seem so loving and sweet. Many can't maintain the act for too long but some can for years. I knew too guys back in Oz where with girls for over 3 years. Started families, very normal lives. Girl seemed settled and all good only to go back to the bars both times under deplorable circumstances. One was going back to see her family 3 times a year and at least some of the time she was back working in the bar when she was living in Australia with husband, kids, home and a very good income / lifestyle. 

 

I think many of us who have lived here for sometime would view a relationship with a Thai bar girl something akin to starting a relationship with a junky streetwalker back home. I am not saying they aren't fun or have their purpose....they are what they are. They are not working in the bar supporting their "poor" families either. Most are girls who have children they don't want to look after. They go to Pattaya for the glamorous life, going rate normally send 3000 baht a month back to mum or an auntie to take care of the kid, which is a fortune for a poor village peasant. Not sure if you are planning on living here but there are good girls here for sure...but you wont find them in Pattaya or Phuket. Best advice I have heard is decide where you want to live and then find the girl. There will be a never ending queue waiting for you wherever you live. If you live in Pattaya or Phuket...rent, do not buy.
