I can assure you that for the vast majority, they were not selfish drivers, but more so got themselves into a mad panic with all those flashing lights and blaring sirens suddenly approaching from behind.

As in not having control of what's going on around you?

Her statement pretty much sums up the majority of Thai drivers.

  • What a pony excuse. How about just move out of the <deleted> way.   The fine is also pathetic and inadequate. Disqualification and at the very least some kind of driver improvement cou

  • Take away her licence as she appears to be unaware of the Highway Code.

why most fine are 500baht? they can't count after that amount? Does it even cover the "administration cost"?

No,But it'll buy a few bottles of Lao Khao !!

guess that part isnt taken up in thai driving license test

no, its your education that tells you to pull over

If anyone needs education about this matter, he/she shouldn't get a permit to roam the streets.

Ah yes, one of "those" drivers.  Often in a newish, ultra-compact economy car, little girl stuffed animals in the back window.  Right lane on the main highway, 80 kph on the button, nobody in front, touches the brakes repeatedly, randomly, for no apparent reason.

Extreme concentration bordering on sheer terror.

OMG, who put that cute kitten in the road!  OMG!

“She didn’t know what to do”- common instinct tells one to pull over to a different lane. I wonder if this question is on the Thai driver exam???? (I doubt it)

Recently sat through a video for my Thai 5 year driving license renewal. There was a section about moving out of the way for emergency vehicles.

and I bet that most of the Thais in the room ,especially the younger ones, had their heads stuck in their mobiles.

Thankfully not but the video was stopped half way through and everyone allowed out when the instructor noticed how bored everyone was.

Correct,  and the video clip displayed some very ordinary driving craft.   But that doesn't necessarily mean selfishness or malice. on the driver's part.

Maybe It would be better for the general motoring public if she catches the bus instead.

Great idea ???? that should free up some space on the roads if "they" (the same folks who cannot enforce any other law) start taking licences from anyone that doesn't know their highway code ????

You they have a licencing and training system :)??

Blame the system here. It is a joke.

No not the system, lack of integrity and common sense

Which the majority of Thais lack. The whole system here is at fault. It breeds people like her.

Her excuse is a silly one so is the punishment however any particular reason why ambulance did not over take her when in video road looks pretty empty and left lane had no traffic

"Fault" Depends how you look at it? works at keeping people in their place - don't want them thinking too much! ????

Meanwhile in Germoney: 240 Euro (8,606 Thb) penalty, one month driving ban and two points in the traffic offender list (8 points= loss of driving license), if you do not immediately give a police or ambulance car with blue light and siren horn free rein.

The cops listened to Nam Oi's excuse and fined her 500 baht after she turned herself in.

Totally stupidity to only give 500 b fine

she clearly don't learn to drive but have a licence

Fine should be start take lessons before she could drive again

in some countries this woman goes to jail. also, she is lying. every driver, idiot or not, knows to move over. every single one. if she is not lying, then take her license away from her. she is a complete danger on the road for 100s of other reasons...like a stop light.

Over 40 years ago In Australia a mate was in St Johns ambulance and was tasked to take an ambulance toa country town for a speedway meeting on a long weekend. We got about 15kms from home and there was a huge traffic jam about a km from our turn off. So my idiot mate puts the lights and sirens on and when we get to out turn off after everyone gave us space a copper pulled him over and offerred to give us a police escort to a hospital with a patient. My mate had to explain he had no patient and was just in a hurry to get home . He was booked, made to go back in the queue and was fined 500 dollars (he only got 200 a week pay) and got demerit points and had to resit the lights and sirens course. St Johns barred him from driving duties for 6 months.

Yep, So let's add that bit of knowledge of what to do during the test for everyone from now when going for their license.....????

500 baht fine should be 5,000 and take her licence for a few months oh if she had one

Pathetic but predictable: invoking the good ol' time-tested pu$$y pass, "I didn't know what to do! Bwahwahwah!"

I always check and move for Ambulances BUT never those cars escorting so-called VIPs they can bloody well wait .

one has to wonder what they teach them at the driving school (if they do go to one555)

They don't teach this that is for sure!  no critical thinking just drive around in circle training like a monkey, all they had to do was put in in their learning booklet and make it a simple question on the written test.

Question:  If an emergency vehicle needed to get by what must one do?

                A. don't let them pass

                B. Keep drinking, talking, texting

                C. do what is necessary safely and let them go by

                D. This is Thailand

For future reference " Nam Oi ", all you need to do is move over to the Left slightly in order that the Ambulance has room to pass you at speed if required.

Or better still, stop driving and take a cab.

Jesus H Christ ! these people are allowed to drive a 4 wheel death dealing machine !

Only in Thailand.

It’s good to see these morons being called out.

Didn't know what to do........well it's one of the questions on the driving test so I guess she got that one wrong.
