Well Trend Setters

That's it for another round of footy.

Unfortunately, the Bearded God JK couldn't drag WC over the line.

One picked six and three picked 5.

RIP moves up to 3rd.

Until next time.

image.png.f353129ae0ce55ddfa4ab91a395daa39.png

Well done JK on a great career.

Mundy's turn to celebrate this week at Optus.

Some good games and the 8 far from settled.

4 still in tipping race so the pressure is on,

I hope to break into the 100 club this week???? and join the rest.

You're at the right end of the season FJ, things are starting to go pie shaped for a lot of clubs already.

Well North continue to shock, Carey and Stevens @ it again at the 96 flag reunion, bla bla bla behind my back the exulted one told the little guy, you calling me a lier? And off they go again…. If I was Wayne I wouldn’t be pushing anything with Stevens….some people honestly, and Wayne sounds intelligent on the telly too….

Well men the hot gossip is Clarkson to North...talk about shooting your career in the foot....and cutting it off.......

Pert should have moved in and signed him then sacked Simone after a disastrous finals campaign we are about to have...

Like Claro was a little wee bit lucky in his timing taking over at the Hawks... not this time.....couple of ageing back up singers ready to roll on to the retirement home and a first round pick who just got dropped and knows not one end of the ground to the other....recruiters either sacked or walked out etc etc....2011 all over again.....

Well i will let you get excited for what its worth Fj and we can all massage your nerves and all and even say "hey what a great more" but its how i said.....shooting himself in the foot...

North should have taken bit between the teeth and the AFL should have cut off its life line like they did with Fitzroy and forced the move to Tassie...

Ho and talking about Tassie.....im in the firm belief a 19th team is pure an utter bullocks as you can imagine there would be a push for a 20th team with in 5 ys of them joining...and wont be long we will have an AFL team every 200ks up Highway 31....starting in Ned Kelly country Glenrowan who will be known as the Bandits, Wang, as in Wangaratta who likely to be the Wang dang things, Albury Wodonga Lakers, Dubbo Superstars, gees i forget some of them NSW cities..... then them Sth Aussies and Westerners are going to want to get in on the act too.....

Lighten up Alex????

North are only heading in one direction,UP.

Nervous win by your boys, glad they won for the competitions sake.

Just need the Hawks to roll the Tigers today.

Great win for the Swans. I loved the save from Rampe. It was outstanding. Their defence was very good. Now 2nd on the ladder. Buddy's goal was great. Great team effort. Sorry boys I am biased.

Was a great win Rip.

I reckon you also got murdered by the umps.

That deliberate against McCartin was a shocker.

Well men

That's it for the penultimate round.

A great last pick by Rip means he picked the card.

He gets this weeks Fruit and Nut.

He also moves to second on points, one tip away.

Could be a great finish with some huge games next week.

Until next time.

Gees with stress on the roads here and the local mentality of build it and forget it a 30 year old internet connection install around Captain Cooks time and yes i peeked into there control room...looked like a blown up cockpit of a world war 2 B52 with them wires hanging everywhere and rust appearing on metal boxes of tech gear in there....had to revert to the trusty iPhone for hot spotting to watch the might Swans yesterday...under the circumstances im very relaxed Fj even had 2 2hr massages to ummmmmm chill out during the week.....

i think North is cemented to the floor there mr, like Eagles will get out of the cellar quick and lovely, Bombers are going to have an enima thingo inserted Gaints will get Adem if Clarko goes your way, you can bet you wont be doing a Collingwood next year dear....i do recall when master coach old Ron took over at my club....we went further down down the slide.....its about getting players out of bad habits.....im wondering would Clarko really take on North? nahhhh....he would need to be bonkers......theres nothing there for the next 7 ys mate...look a word of advice i took the Hawks as a second team there in the 70s through to the early 90s and it payed hugh dividends......i dont recommend the Demons but Swans have been doing it good for the last 25 ys.....think about it.....

Ho almost forgot....i watched that game like i was a coach.....pitiful lot they are....said it before we just raise our standard to who we play, Blues 3 top mids out and on a slide, looking like wet weet bix...and we almost let them win.....

Defence dont spread the ball around to create corridors, mids bomb it in, forwards dont lead and if they do there mostly ignored, yep most players are down by 5% at least, you have noticed teams are cutting out Leaver by going over his head or just sending it the other side of the ground.....forward line is often cluttered, dont Simone talk during the breaks?

Hunt is not really a half back is he....my guess is wing, has the build and speed with a raking long kick, Harms is sadly missed and is a half forward mid he and Christian should be rotated in my view both are goal kickers, only room on the ground for Spargo or Neal-Bullen not both, Jackson? what is it? the promise if you sign you play ruck? should be playing half forward especially since big Tom is out, with a 10 min spell on the ball, were loosing a lot of drive while big Max is playing second fiddle to the kid...Sparrow? love the kid but needs to be playing at Casey for a while, Brayshaw should be on the ball and is kinda all over the place....yes yes i know hes had more on ball lately...

They need to find a half back flanker either trade or draft, they also need to find someone like one of the Dacos's who spins turns runs you around and still gets a long raking kick off....and whats with the defence trying to mark the ball in a pack.....hey fells you punch it mr Petty in particular....

There undefeated at least to last week over at Casey surely theres a few p[layers ready to come in.....and thats part of the problem, no fresh faces.

Anyway it was a big ask for them to rock up again even the mighty Tigers couldnt do it the first time....the stars could align in the house of a mercury retrograde with a Gemini moon and big mouthed venus watching on the horizons.....so you never know but i wouldnt put money on it....

I don't know whether to laugh or cry with the appointment of Clarkson Rip.

We all know you need the cattle and a superstar spine to succeed.

After years of chasing mid fielders in the draft it's time to concentrate on the spine.

We need two quality players to fill the CHF and CHB positions.

The question is can Clarko attract these players to the club.

Watching the Swans reserves, they have a side worthy of beating half the bottom 8,could we lure a Hayden McLean or Joel Amarti from them.

Steven May from the Demons or a Jeremy McGovern from the Eagles.

Time will tell, one thing for sure is if you want to teach a system based method with a young group you become very vunerable with the losses accrued in the 1st two years.

  • Popular Post

You've still got to be really happy FJ.

Although I do think the media have gone way over the top with it all.

Essendon.

What a shambles.

Not surprised Clarko didn't go there they way they've treated Rutten.

As soon as Essendon made it clear they were going after Clarko, Rutten had to be sacked.

They've treated him terribly IMO.

Where has the Coaches Association been?

Not a word.

Don't you worry about a thing, Clarko will attract  a few players for you and im happy to give you wino May for a a first round pick now hes a premiership player, and theres a couple others id like the Demons to give you just for the sake of freshing up the list....well if we can keep May off the grog then he could stay.

I didnt think that Essendon would land him after the disgraceful way there treated Rotten as well....

By the way them GWS players North were keen on it looks like your saved yourself a ton of money.....you can get them now for a 3rd round pick...and on half the money...

Id say North will be aggressive in trade week so watch out....and now they have some clout...

Great win Alex. I think we have to beat Saints by about 50 points to retain 2nd. Very hard task.. If we do not win we will be 5th. Great last round.

I still think that the Cats are unstoppable but its similar for us to the end of last season where we were on knobbly knees and only put it to rest with the last game of the season, so the question is did the Blues really turn up and did we really smash the Lions or did they fall asleep behind the wheel?

I believe you need to win by 60 p or more....in the end it is what it is, would be nice having home ground advantage through the finals on the mighty G, and if the stars align i want to front up to the Pies opening week of the finals....

As for poor Will who has remained fairly quite over his beloved Eagles and a mild mannered fella he is doesn't react like i do with knee jerk reactions about his team....should Simpson go? Well there is a good case for both Simpson and Hinkley to go i think, Hinkley would do a pretty good job no matter where he lands and to be honest 10 ys of Hooch would be enough for me....Adem is the word on everyones lips for GWS dont know why but has served a decent apprenticeship at Hawks and Demons and lets not forget he was a stellar half back flanker for us who was shafted by the incoming Bailey where i wont go again....So Will is it time for Simo to head down the open highway and fade into the sunset?

Me if i was the Bombers once they clean up the mess id be knocking on Kens door....better still the Gaints should be breaking his door down....think old Ken would appreciate a board that keeps there mouth shuts and backs the coaches in....

Uncle Alex

Simmo is contracted for another 3 years so he's not under pressure as a layout would be huge.

Would want to see improvement next year.

Hinkley is the only AFL coach who has survived 10 years without a premiership.

I agree with you, Geeling look unstoppable.

Reckon only Geelong, Melbourne and Sydney can win it.

Simpson must have the same manager as Goodwin....who share the same manager with Deshaun Watson........Air tight space age tried and tested, do the Browns own the Eagles? they gave a serial sex pest predator QB Watson a 5 year deal fully guaranteed..........and made him the top earner in the NFL by doing it....

Baker is now starting for the Panthers thats another team i have to watch this season...

Well gents

What a sensational finish to the tipping comp.

It pretty much came down to the 2nd last game, Collingwood versus Carlton.

Scea picked Collingwood and Ozzy picked Carlton.

Over 22 games, the margin was only 6 points.

Cannot remember it ever being that close.

So, it gives me great pleasure, to present this year's title to none other than Scea.

A worthy winner who was on top for most of the year.

A great year also by Ozzydom, who was a bee's dick away from snatching it.

Hope we have a good final series.

Go Swans.

Until next time.

Thanks to Will, who can buy me lunch next week, and all other participants for making this thread such a great place during the footy season.

I'll have a little brag, when I saw Brisbane lose and Oz went past me followed by the Wobbles being 4 goals down at three quarter time I thought I'd gone for the proverbial doctor, but decades of virtuous living was finally rewarded.

Port hammering the despicable Crows made it a great weekend.

Well said Scea and a great win.

A few guys putting their hand up for a trade keeping the week rolling along.

Nothing North need standing out, maybe a play for Ollie Henry if he doesn't sign with Collingwood.

A Brad Hill goes against all the guys we delisted a couple of years a go although i saw what Daniel Wells did for Collingwood getting a good ball user into their team to help them improve.

Hope we can hang onto Zurhaar but the body language didn't look good in the last round.

I still can't get my head around the All Australian team selections, the easiest solution to me is wait till after the Brownlow count then players with the most votes for the position get in.

Clarko obviously has ties with Brad Hill, but not sure he's what you need.

Soft as butter and is a mercenary IMO.

Would love to get Zurhaar at West Coast.

Ollie Henry would be a great get.

Can't see the Pies not signing him up though.

The AA captaincy baffles me.

Happened in 2018 when Buddy was made captain over Shannon Hurn.

How can Hawkins get the gig over Cripps or Gawn?

Easiest position to fill should be the Coleman winner at FF, but no.

Thought Barrass might've been a bit stiff but I'm biased.

Any thoughts on the pre-final bye?

I hate it.

Sucks all of the momentum out of the season IMO.

Barrass was stiff.needs to take more kick ins to catch the attention of the stat reading selectors.

I was a fan of the bye when introduced but not now as teams manage players these days, you come off watching a game like Blues v Pies and now be brought back down to earth maybe watching the girls run around.

Lucky there is formula1,cricket etc on to fill the weekend in.

  • Popular Post

Dont like the bye but it worked wonderfully for us last year and it will again men...so keep it....NFL do it....well for the big one anyway.....

Never take notice of the all aussie squad....yawn......soon the real footy will start after the GF...

Gawn took Grundy out for a latte the other day and told him he will play second fiddle to him so there you have it....Jackson is gaaawnnn......Cats are a sniffing too....since Cats and Demons have pretty much landed who they want hes going to one of them....would he really like to move to Geelong? or drive down the highway every day? it's pretty full on crazy traffic on the Geelong freeway and especially where the sign road meet...imagine Bkk and Manila and Mexico city at 8 am.....

  • Popular Post

The bye was introduced to stop teams mass resting players in the last round if in a position to do so.I remember North resting about 10 players one year.

Also to give all the best players every chance to be fit to go.

Looking through the injury lists of the last 8 teams there are some quality players touch and go and will benefit from the bye.

https://www.afl.com.au/matches/injury-list

Swans would have been happy not to have the bye.
