Police in Chonburi are hunting a well known local restaurant owner after he was caught on CCTV shooting a man to death in a snooker hall in the city.

A video on the 77kaoded site showed two men at the Fair Fair snooker hall in Soi Nartmontasevee 20 approach each other.

A larger man puts his hand to the face of a slimmer man who responds by knocking the larger man to the ground.

The man knocked down then pulls out a gun and follows the other man to another part of the snooker hall. People try to stop him but their intervention fails.

Wichai Ainchan, 54, was hit four times in the chest and rib cage and was pronounced dead at the scene after rescue services administered CPR.

An unnamed witness said that the pair knew each other and had been arguing. It happened on Saturday just after midnight.

Samet station chief Pol Col Watcharawit Nitthiworarat and his team were soon on the scene.

On Sunday Daily News named the shooter as well known restaurant owner Chaidech Rattanajaroenlap, 51, who also is known by the nickname "Kai Bang Pakong".

The victim worked at a marine science institute.

Relatives of the shooter said that Chaidech would give himself up in 2 or 3 days.

Daily News said that Chaidech was "a little drunk".

Police went in search of him with the chief warning his men to be vigilant in case there was a gunfight.

Unlikely, the coward only shoots at the unarmed and unprepared.

Ever clown around here carries a gun....Be very careful.

I always am reminded of that when I ever go into bar in Thailand. It helps to read Thai:

"khaet plort awut" it usually says above the door.

Weapons Free Zone.

Yeh, right.

Just another baby with a gun. This country will never advance because this is their culture. "Ok. Sorry I murdered him but here's lots of money". "Ok. All's sweet. No jail for you".

I wonder if this shooting to end up with a whimper like the of Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung's youngest son Duang who also at a place of entertainment shot a policeman in cold blood and now he's an army officer not to spend one day in jail...

The irony of that complete fiasco is the the fact that he is now a firearms instructor!????

Only a little drunk , okay a wai and 2000 baht should be enough.

Watch the others in the video. The attempt to stop him after he drew the gun was extremely half-hearted. And after he killed the guy in the brown shirt, they politely escorted him away. He perhaps rules the roost in that snooker club. Time for a new leader.
