Last July I bought a new Kawasaki Z250Sl in Chiang Mai for ฿108,000 .  It came with one year's 1st class free insurance as part of a promotion.  I just received the renewal notice from Lockton and it is ฿13,093.  This seems excessive so I wondered if this is a fair market price or should I be shopping around.

The insured value was 120K.

As I am only here for 5-6 months a year and the rest of the time it is parked inside my friend's guest house it make the cost seem even more unreasonable even though I understand this is down to my own choices.

Are insurance premiums in Thailand risk assesed or purely down to the value of the veheicle?
