So obviously a short time hotel, where the staff had to have noticed that the girl was obviously underage. Sickening what people will turn a blind eye to when there is money flowing around.

My thoughts exactly. The hotel should be indicted for being an accessory to the crime.

What are things coming to, when a 60 year old teacher, yes a teacher, a person who is charged with protecting/ caring for children, and the disgusting pervert was having sex with her.

Her parents should be horse whipped for clearly allowing it to happen, probably been getting money off the pervert.

European paedophiles usually seek employment in jobs involving children too.

The bodies of a retired teacher and 14-year-old student were found side-by-side on a bed of at a Khon Kaen resort with bullet wounds to their heads in what police believe is a murder and suicide stemming from jealousy.

Jealousy here in Thailand is like a disease that will never be cured. It's very sicken hear things like this happening to a young girl. Christ, I'm sick of it. And the dirty rotten rodent bastard should ride in hell.

Simply because Thai society except it is is more important to find foreigners on over-stay than it is stopping Thai perverts molesting children and its ok for friends and family to allow it to happen.

They are 2 completely separate departments.

The one with the "smart van" is from the Immigration police and the other are the normal police in a different province.

They are also 2 different stories.

Is any child in Thailand not brought up by grandparents?

A great many children in Thailand are NOT brought up by their grandparents even in rural Thailand.

And when I was stating "Thai society" that covers all and everything in Thailand.

In that case the grand parents should have been horse whipped along with those that knew about the relationship and simply condoned it rather than reporting it. And let's not pretend the grandparents were old. This pervert started a relationship with child when she was 12 years old so  most probably the grandparents were younger than the pervert.

Adding, what doesn't help is that:

- Teachers are put up on pedestal, close to untouchable and because of this status 99% of folks will just stay quite and also fear repercussions if they speak up.

- School administrators / local police / local gov't. officials sadly have similar status.

So sad that basic members of society have been, over a long period of time, browbeaten into these attitudes, and are fearful.

getting money off the pervert.

is often the key word and reflects paramount importance that trumps any/all morality, integrity or honor

moron teacher that apparently cannot even understand the concept of a 14 year old girl having friends/ bf in her own age bracket rather than taking her life.

police believe the teacher shot the girl before turning the gun on himself.

Now that's some pretty fancy police work right there.

Man should have shot himself first!

BTW, where are all these handguns coming from? THAT should be investigated. Oh, and one more thing, Thai women, PLEASE start using birth control. Too many kids being born to unready youths. If you want to have your fun, fine. Just don’t bring any innocent lives into your social hell.

Now this is getting beyond sick. The school should compensate the mom and dad. New boyfriend? How old was he, and was he a teacher too?

Well if they had been in a relationship for two years then the parents may well have been aware of it.  Thai's have a different attitude to age and age differences.  We don't know what the background was so we are all speculating.  Of course the relationship was wrong but let's not get high and mighty over it.

There are plenty of people who think that a forty year old with a twenty year old is paedophilia. That will have a lot of ex-pats squirming if we start believing that.

From Wikipedia:

About one in ten people in Thailand legally own a gun. There are more than six million registered guns in a country with a population of 66.7 million. Small Arms Survey estimates that the total number of guns, both licit and illicit, held by Thai civilians in 2017 is 10,300,000 equating to 15.1 firearms per 100 inhabitants.

Why should the school compensate anyone?! They’re not responsible for his private life or the consequences! I also think it’s pretty safe to say that he didn’t advertise his pedophile “relationship” with a minor!

"Yutthakarn said police learned from the man’s friends that he was divorced from his wife and had had relations with the girl for two years."

Yeah, he really kept it a secret

Yeah, he really kept it a secret

That doesn’t mean that the school was aware of it and should pay compensation for his actions!
