I've seen imperial fixings and rod in Mega-Home if you have one near you.

Metric is readily available in similar sizes.

Yeah, Ive seen threaded rod or "all thread" rod in Thai Watsadu in my area in about that same size but its metric. You'd be looking for about 7mm or so.

Just try all the big shops in your area. Its around. They use it on all kinds of stuff.

Weird stuff like that I would have a google image of what I wanted on my phone and show it around to the local mom & pop shops too.

I need some threaded rod for a project. Is there any chance of getting some imperial threaded rod here in Thailand?

Is it called anything else? Or for a special purpose.

I assume you mean 5/16 - 18 ( UNC ), like others have said you will have to look around , but most of the common diy stores stock metric all thread ( 8mm is your nearest equivalent ) .
Having said that they do stock a lot of imperial nuts and bolts so who knows ??
Look for a HomeMart or your local equivalent ( SCG Stockist ).

Yeah 8mm. I just glanced at a tape measure sitting on my desk so it wasn't really a serious effort.

Sorry, and thank to all! Sometimes searching around shops for something sucks my energy, when the assistants run away and hide or they start converting to metric.

There is a mega near me, i have never had the need to visit.

Yeah, it needs to be imperial because it fit inside and 8mm bearing, from what i understand 8mm will be too much.

I will begin my quest on Monday!

If its not a press fit then just take the bearing with you & try them on.

If the hole is already tapped in imperial, only an imperial equivalence will fit. You didn't state if the thread is UNC or UNF (maybe it's BSF).

If it's for a new build, just tap and dye M8 1,25.

You can get imperial taps and dyes here and there are many small machine shops around that could run a 5/16 rod.

Imperial and metric threads aren't compatible and all imperial threads are not compatible with each other either. Take a look at one of the many free thread charts available online.

Do try the M8 a light rub with abrasive paper may be enough to get it into the bearing.

5/16 - 18 UNC or 5/16-24 UNF:  major dia . .3125 in. or  7.9375 mm

 M8 x 1.25 or M8 x 1: major diameter .3150 in. or  8.001 mm

Is the hole in the inner race of the bearing 8mm?

Yes, the inner diameter is this a 8mm skateboard bearing.

The project is this 3D printed spindle holder. I guess the designer is American, so he uses materials available. I imagine 8mm stud is fine, if I can get it, I would use 5/16 as the housing requires 5/16-8 bolts. I have already printer the main body.

5/16-8 is a good size to keep in stock, it’s used in plenty of projects.
