Letter sent to Prime Minister

I have sent this to the Honourable Prime Minister today, I will inform you if I get a reply.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Sir,

As you know, many foreigners choose to retire and live in Thailand, and contribute enormously to the growing economy of Thailand.

But I believe we are having great difficulties due to very complicated reporting procedures and regulations restricting their freedom of movement within the Kingdom, etc.

I myself would love to retire and live in the great country of Thailand in the very near future.

Therefore, I would like to humbly request that you kindly review the rules and regulations for foreigners living in Thailand, and if you see that they are difficult, to kindly simplify them.

I can suggest:  Increase Thai Baht deposit to 1 Million, allow foreigners to buy Condominiums for that amount or more, and to use that as the deposit for retirement visa, completely eliminate the need for reporting travel within the Kingdom if such travel is only for a short period (i.e. 30 days or less), and make reporting to the Immigration dept. every 6 months instead of the present 3 months.

This would make our lives much easier, and comfortable, during our retirement in your wonderful country, and would make many, many people very happy with you, and your work towards the benefit and well-being of all Thai people, and foreigner visitors as well.

Thank you for your time to read this, with the utmost respect and regards, yours sincerely, Sam Sultan (Canada Citizen).

If it was written in English, don't hold your breath

waiting for a reply.and suggesting to raise the amount

in the bank to 1 million,is very reckless of you, knowing

as you should that many retired people here through

no fault of their own,(exchange rates) are struggling

to  show the 800,000 THB.

I'm sure he'll be on the case immediately.

you've been eating too many maple leaves

If he could read English, these could serve as good comedy for him. Not a bad idea to keep P entertained, he seems almost jovial when in good mood.

absolutely laughable. you people are insane for sending these letters. your only making things worse, you think thai people in positions of power what to be questioned on their regulations. absolutely not, they will be offended and only make things more difficult in the future.

It will be stored in the waste paper basket probably unopened, a lot of C U next Tuesday's who try to make a difference and make things worse.

Note to to the Great White North. LETTERS written to ranking government officials, CEOs and celebrities never get anywhere near them before they are intercepted by security agents, low level functionaries, and PR people.

In this case unless the letter is addressed in Thai script to the correct government building reckon it ends up in a drainage culvert, delivery of Falung mail more effort than it is worth. Ask anyone who has ever sent a Christmas Card.

I really don't get the negativity.

I've been and lived in Thailand many times for many years, and find most Thai people to be quite agreeable.

Yes, I've seen the greed, and the corruption, but I can't believe that the head of the government is going to ignore difficulties and problems in his back yard.

And for those of you who disagree with my suggestions, may I please get the reasons why?

Anyway, I'm holding hope that there will be a reply, and a pleasant one.

Let's see.

That's what he is best at! Particularly people who are NOT native to his back yard!

Maybe he can adapt your letter to the lyrics for his next song.  You'll either give him a good laugh or else you'll piss him off! Glad it's your name on it!

Can you please give me some of that good smack you´re on, please?

Seriously? How can you in your own person address that a higher amount would be ok, when it would affect thousands of foreigners in Thailand? And that´s just one question.

So, go now and write another formal letter to the same person, and ask forgivness for your little tick. At the same time it could be a good thing to make an open official letter to all that you offended with this little badly thought through stunt.

Who do you think causes the difficulties and problems in "his' backyard?Peter Pan?No it's the sole responsibility of the PM.He is the chief architect and instigator and sure as day follows night he will be ignoring your letter, but he might use the suggestion of raising the deposit of 800,000 baht to 1 million and credit you with the idea and that will make you very popular around here! This has to be a troll post as nobody would be that stupid would they?

Let's see.

some of the negativity is that the suggestion of raising the 800 to a mill would probably wipe out over 50% of what's left here of the retirement community..

I certainly hope you aren't from west of the Ontario border. Westerners don't like to grovel to politicians, anywhere.????????
