Forty nine passengers were injured when a Korat to Bangkok tour bus fell on its side in Klang Dong district near Chokchai farm on the Friendship Highway.

Thai Rath reported that passengers with head, arm and leg injuries crawled out of the double-decker bus and waited for rescue on the side of the road between kilometer markers 50 and 51.

The accident happened yesterday evening in heavy traffic as people made their way back to Bangkok after the long weekend.

Driver Surasak Kertphum, 45, said there was a long tailback of several kilometers and this combined with roadworks led him to undertake on the hard shoulder.

He hit an area of subsidence with his left side front wheel and lost control of his vehicle.

so he decided to go off the main lane on the road to try and force his way past other traffic waiting in line

take his licence away and ban him from ever driving any public transport vehicle for life

Did the steering wheel come off before or after this incident?

1.  I'm not making any headway in this heavy traffic.

2. I'm more important than other vehicles waiting in line

3. Undertake through the roadworks.

4. Ooops Hard shoulder not so hard.

5. Tiny soft brain.

No need for witness's or an investigation for this one. We have a self confessed idiot right here.

Subsidence my a++e, clown was speeding cutting in on the wrong side, just got too near the edge then over it went.

Where in the photos is there any evidence of subsidence?

Probably half asleep, came up quick on another vehicle, undertook left and didn't have enough road and fell over the bank !!

As Colin said "what subsidence", none in those pics.

Looks to me like she strained her thigh. Could you massage it for her?

Normal Thai driving behaviour ..''I'll go anywhere by any means to get to the front, even if it means killing everyone on board '' !

There is a reason it is called undertaking....... Please can someone explain it to all public transport drivers..!!

  • Popular Post

Consider this:

The tyre marks show he was way over to the left, and reasonably parallel, far more than the width of the hard shoulder, if he had been "undertaking" as a deliberate move, he would have had enough room with one set of wheels barely on the soft verge. This tyre tracks are way inside the verge and he then ran out of soft verge, not subsidence, as can be shown by the red line on the photo.

I maintain this guy was asleep and wandered over too far and then ran out of verge and it fell over.

undertake on the hard shoulder. Is he <deleted> serious with a bus? I thought cars cutting off motorbikes were bad. He needs to be banned for life.

Thai mentality.... incurable !

They will never learn~no will to do anything about it~lazy for anyone to do their jobs~no enforcement~no care for the population

Not allowed in this live and let live place

It's a shame foreigners are not allowed to do the jobs that Thais can do, But it would seem bus driving is one job Thais can't do safely.

Bus driver is a no show so they give a moto taxi guy 1k for the shift. How Else can you explain all of the single bus roll overs

A prime example of zero training for a commercial vehicle, the bus company is the major blame for hiring and not requiring them to have any real safe training this guy learn this from riding his motorbike and moved up to a bus!

And again, the endless history of public transport!
I hope these insecure companies have at least adequate insurance!

THAI, they know how to do everything much better than any farang, my experience: don't try to explain something to a useless Thai, they don't listen to you and they know everything much better! We farang are stupid and that's it!

Make the driver pay

The fekker  will be behind the wheel again  by the time I’ve finished my morning coffee.

He never had a problem before when riding his mountain bike on that shoulder.
