I never said anything about he called it off because of a joke. I said he even joked about buying (knowing it was a long shot). Calling it off was petulance and stupid but he's guided by his emotions much of the time.

So he made a joke about buying Greenland, he then decided to cancel the meeting due to them not wanting to sell.

But he didn't call it off because of that joke?

As the ice melts across the whole of the Arctic and competition for newly-accessible resources hots up, I don't suppose the Russians - or indeed the Chinese - will be particularly sensitive to Greenlander or Danish wishes. The Norwegians are already in competition with the Russians over fishing round Svalbard. Some time over the next few years, choices will have to be made when the Usofans ask for extra territory & territorial rights for their big base in the north of Greenland. And it won't be just for listening & watching purposes.

I imagine the Canadians are watching all of this with interest too. They already have formerly-Russian Alaska on their north-west frontier. And now their north-east frontier is looking fragile, as well as their deep deep north ...

And in the deep deep south (Antarctica), Oz is also worried about non-agreed Chinese activity in nominally Australian territory.

Could you please supply the link to support your contention that "this topic was already on the table.".  And you aren't aware of Trump's history as a loose cannon?

I feel there is something smaller than a "loose cannon" in the WH

Love rollmops. My 4 year old son always insisted I buy him one whenever we went to the local market. Good for you too.

Yes well your 4 year old son, has more maturity than the POTUS it appears.

Being "good for you" makes them immediately unacceptable for POTUS

He really is an utter embarrassment. I had no love for Obama and other US presidents, but this guy is the crowning glory on the sh*t pile
You ever seen Back to the Future 2 when Biff steals the time machine travels back in time gives his past self that sportsbook and when Marty returns back to the present it's a different Dark Grim Mad Violent place?

I think we are at the beginning of something like that now with Trump and Brexit the world is truly a strange place.

I wonder how his fanboys are going to explain this one? Maybe it’s part of the wall strategy? Or are we not good enough at playing 4-D chess that he’s supposedly so good at?

Nice diversion though from an economy tanking.
I suppose they will quietly forget it as they did with the disarming of north korea and the Nobel peace prize or the space army.

Trump has a very hard time with smart, powerful women. They are essentially his nemesis, and they possess the kryptonite, to his bully pulpit and nonsense. He gets outsmarted (not particularly difficult, with his probable IQ of 90) every time, so I can see why he would be cautious and fearful of this meeting. The whole Greenland thing is beyond nonsense. Just another clown act.

Is she? I mean smart and powerful. Not all that immersed in Danish politics to judge, and I kinda doubt you've got a clear handle on this either. More like its enough that she's the anti-Trump figure of the hour,

and the adulation pours out.

I'm a bit lazy to go and check, but would be interesting if the same compliments were paid on past instances when she was mentioned - supporting limiting immigration, rules allowing confiscation of cash and valuables from illegal immigrants, banning Muslim headgear, push for repatriation-not-integration policy, etc...

But do go on making them childish IQ references, by all means. Always amusing to see posers opposing Trump embrace his rhetoric and style.

We do NOT sell a part of Denmark to anybody. That happened before year 1800, but certainly NOT anymore.

Actually, the last time something like this happened was a little more recent than that. Denmark sold what is now the US Virgin Islands to the US, in 1917.

I guess things were "great" back then.
