A skype start-up problem

Featured Replies

I recently installed Skype for Windows on my laptop, and am getting the following message every time I boot the computer. I have uninstalled and deleted all references to Skype from the registry and reinstalled but that has changed nothing. What is puzzling me is that the specified module that it says can't be found is actually there, because I've checked. Also, although I had deleted all references to Skype, when I launch the programme after reinstall it signs me in automatically.

Any suggestions how to overcome this irritant, please?

Thanks. I'll take a look, but it hasn't reported a Javascript error, I use Chrome and not IE and the programme loads and works fine. It just says a module is missing when I boot the computer, and it isn't.
One option I have is not to load Skype at start-up, I suppose. I rarely use it anyway.

Are you using the win10 app version or desktop if desktop try looking for a different build ????

Some third party program maybe antivirus program blocking the module at startup?

Process Monitor from Microsoft (Sysinternals/Mark Russinovich) is a very good tool for troubleshooting file issues like this. It has a logging on boot option too that may reveal an access denied to that file on startup.

If this folder remains after uninstall that may explain automatic sign in:
%AppData%\Microsoft\Skype for Desktop
