  • No. He helped an IO with his decision by making his passport more acceptable. ????

  • First of all you have a long history of travel here so you should carry the 20,000 baht so that is not an issue. I'm sure you can find a way to carry it on your person safely.    Second, it

For a 30 day Visa exempt, I believe OP said something about a 60 day stay so assume a Tourist Visa.

The op said he got a 90 day visa exempt entry. Presumably he's from one of those South American nations the Thais give these to (why is that?) or got it from the gratuity implied was given? Either way these types of threads don't help unless a racial profile is included in the o/p so we got the same to work on as the IO modus operandi.

But can take a VERY  long time and don't  you  have to present  yourself  back in Thailand to do it?

I'd  love  to see an appeal  success story if there actually is one?

No, you appeal from detention and stay up to 7 more days in detention until you get the result. In theory.

In practice, nobody appeals because everyone wants to get out asap.

They might let you in though, if it gives them headaches. Or not. But according to various reports over the years, appealing is just wasting more of your time. A few thousand baht produce quicker results.

Seems like Thailand is moving backwards.

Well at least it has English language. I had an impression of people being forced to sign something they could not read.

If I had the required 20,000, I would not sign as it would be untrue.

The form I signed was only in Thai. I felt pressured to cooperate and was not alone.

It's called bilateral agreement. My wife can go for example to Brazil without any visa and get 90 days.

Not to mention the appeal itself will cost 1,900 baht, as usual. ????

And "hotel" charge 750 baht + VAT per 24 hrs if I am not mistaken.

Better pay them off.

There was a successful appeal but can't remember the thread. I think they let him in before they officially started the procedure. There is also a thread not long ago from a guy whose lawyer convinced immigration to let him in after he already signed the paper and was in detention.

I  thought  they  had Chinese Only lines  anyway.

No, they don't at Chiang Mai airport. Not sure about Bangkok airport.

10,000 for VE entry.
20,000 for TV entry.
The OP is most certainly from one of those south American countries who benefits from the 90 days entry (bilateral agreement) therefore it is not clear how much cash they have to carry, likely 20k baht (or equivalent in FC).

Comes in on holiday, but has a landlady in Bangkok, and not only does he have her number, she is prepared to swear to an immigration officer that he doesn't work in Thailand.  What a load of tosh.

I will answer in just one post what I have read other op wrote about my contribution to this forum.

Somebody told me I must learn english. Yes, is my second language. BTW I have written I was carrying usd 700 and english speakers with reading comprehension issues couldn´t get is more than 20k baht. After that I think my english is more than enough.

Yes, I´m native of "one of those South American countries". At least parliament still works on one of those countries....

We are having other kind of issues right now.

Immigration officer told me that Korea will not let me stay unlimited, and I replied to him that if a Thai national would like to stay more than two years in my country, could make it without harassment.

If a thai citizen wants to go to civilized Europe what would happen with it´s visa? Easy to understand the reciprocity. Right?

I´m coming to Thailand since nine years ago. I dont work here. If I have a landlady is because I like the place where i stay. Not difficult to understand.

Passport was one more time thicker and money shown was one more time slimmer.

I have read the post of the 32 years old english guy and that made me write my post, just to advise he was not the only one.

I love this country. Im a honest guy. Not criminal. Place where I live, people respect me.

Can be dismissed as Thainess. He just made a particularly good effort to adapt to his host country.

Well if they make this "You help me - I help you" a consistent service, I'm sure there will be takers. I wouldn't be worried about their reputation, if I were them, most foreigners consider them corrupt pigs anyway.

Even heaps of thais i know consider them worst than pigs, more like water monitor lizard

People actually believe this story????????????????

  • Popular Post

It’s really more like extortion than bribery, certainly when you have done nothing wrong and deserve to come in.  And they suggest it.

As an aside a friend with a passport from China arrived about 10 days ago at Don Muang and he told me that the 200b payments (placed under passport) have been reinstated so I guess we all know why Big Joke was transferred. He told me that a large tour group was given priority and placed in front of him so he had a good opportunity to see what was happening with others.

It’s his 1 st post but has been travelling to Thailand for years...yeah alright????????????????????

I have a friend who I have known since childhood and he has lived here since the 1990s and he has never posted here, and only checked it out a few times when I mentioned it ...so one day he could write a story, people might just want to seek it out for a special event, that makes perfect sense to me??

I don't think there is a specific price tag to "it".

It's probably more like hotel quotes in Egypt, that is depending on the passport you hold in your hands

and what should be little money for someone with your background.

This. I also wouldn't rule out that some well-known, long-term posters use a throwaway account to post about such an experience. Maybe they don't want it to be linked with their main account, but still want to get the story out. Who knows.

In Australia its widely recommend not to travel overseas with large amounts of money, people going to Bali and the Philippines from here use travel cards especially first time travelling.
The Thai government wants to change Thailand to a cashless economy according to the PM.
