Thai people taking holiday to UK

Featured Replies

What’s the process for a Thai person going on holiday to the UK as an independent tourist? E.g. without any kind of sponsor, friends or boyfriend living there. A genuine two week trip.

They have a job in Thailand and are registered directors of a business here.

They don't need any sort of sponsorship, many Thai people apply in their own right.

They need to satisfy the Entry Clearance Officer, the person who makes the decision whether to issue a visa or not, that they are genuine visitors, the proposed trip is affordable and that, on the balance of probabilities, they will leave the UK at the conclusion of their visit.

They need to apply online and visit the Visa Application to have their biometric details captured, details are here  https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/th/en/how-to-apply

Thanks. looks easier to do themselves than use an agency. Some Bangkok companies are quoting 40k which is non-refundable.

I see no point in using an agency unless there is a difficulty such as a previous refusal to overcome.

From what you say, this is not the case here.

In addition to theoldgit's link, see Standard Visitor visa.

you do not need to use an agent for any type of visa here in Thailand, unless you do not meet the criteria and need a dodgy one.

Introduction commission is a thing that comes to mind

It certainly seems easier for Thai people to travel to western countries these days. Normally they need to demonstrate that they have a permanent job/home/property/assets in Thailand as proof they will return to Thailand and enough money in the bank to support them during their visit.

I don'r know about the UK, but the standard tourist visa issued for Thai visiting Australia seems to be 12 month multi-entry these days.

do you mind if I ask is that  correct for oz visa. 12 month multi?? we are just applying and asked for 12 months. but on fri they called my wife and only offered 3 month and she cant remember if it was multi or single. was your friend offered 12 months multi???

I helped 3 of my wife's Thai friends over the last 3 months apply for Australian tourist visas and they all got 12 month multi-entry tourist visas. I must admit I was a little surprised because normally the first visa is a shorter period.

I'm not sure why, in the case of your wife, they are just offering 3 months, but she probably should accept and get 12 months next time. I doubt 3 months would be multi-entry, but she could ask.
