Traders to ask government to postpone ban on herbicides for 6 months

Three associations of paraquat, chlorpyrifos and glyphosate traders are planning to ask the government to postpone the December 1st enforcement of the ban on the three hazardous farm chemicals by six months, to allow them to clear their stocks and to give farmers time to find alternatives.

Mr. Veeravuth Katanyakul, president of one of the associations, complained today that the December 1st deadline was too soon, allowing the traders very little time to clear their stocks, which are estimated at about 30,000 tonnes.

He said he would accept the ban only if there is solid scientific evidence to prove that the three substances are life-threatening or carcinogenic.

If this happens then the MP that said he would resign if it was not banned should resign.

This would be delayed considerably and the ban NOT put in to place

In Mananya's quest to be the hero of Thai society,she was told to set up a 4 party committee.

However she went ahead with 3 and made the decision to forward to the NCHS,the traders were the ones not at the table.

I would love to see that report she forwarded,since she wanted open voting and all.

This sounds a bit like Boeing saying 'Can we sell the 737 MAXs we have already made' before they are all grounded.

We can only hope that Boeing gets some law suits that totally destroy and punish them. I mean putting money before lives like that its just criminal. So much for ethics of american firms.

A little personal research from him on " Google is his friend " will give him a few thousand answers:

YES, it is dangerous for people and some courts in the USA have already condemned the fancy Monsanto which belongs to the German Bayer to pay of billions of US dollars in fines.
In addition, these products are already banned in dozens of countries.

When we know that the Thai people are fond of increasing the doses of anything because they think it will be better, it is, for my part, very wise for the Thai government to ban this dangerous product when it is not used correctly. .

No,

but if you call the farmers as uneducated I will agree. They don't know what they use

The government could also just buy the stuff against cost price and take out of the market.

Effectively ;
in another order of product (s), he could also do the same with yaba, amphetamines, heroin, cocaine ...

but they do not do it ...

This suggests to me that it (the government or at least some of its members) has every interest in letting these dangerous and deadly products circulate freely in the country.

They know but they don't know how to use it ;

and, as I wrote in another post , they think that the more they put in, the better the result will be

Obviously it's a deadly mistake

They are now required to have a license to buy and use.

So that should put them into the semimeeducated class.

If i was a school gardener and soaked in it twice,yes i would call it dangerous and probably stupid on my own behalf.

It's not a joke.

The joke will be when everyone has E coli from all the home made concoctions after it is banned.

You know very well that a thai can not listen to music without putting the amplifier at the bottom or making a welding with the arc without turning the big button farther than the maximum ...
and everything is always like that, everywhere, for any subject.

With these products that are very dangerous if not used correctly, the best is to prohibit them because the Thai, whether farmer or disc jockey in a nightclub will not seek to know or understand: always the max and two ladles rather than one ...:crying:

So are you going to be going out to the fields and working for 350 baht a day to help the farmers pull their weeds?....

How about just requiring a easy how to use pamphlet be given away free with every bottle....Your as bad as the farmer saying things should go from a free-for-all to a total ban....

Pamphlet are useless and would increase polution. Mandatory formation and licensing would be a minimum.

and then another 6 months followed by another 6 months until all is forgotten

of course! just to please the US Manufacturers, so they ease up on the Tariffs. I'm sure US and Trump in particular have little interest in rights of fishing workers in SE Asia.
