Jomtien Bank Letter Freshness Correction of Misinformation

Featured Replies

Short story:

JOMTIEN

Immigration Bank Letter -- Can be THREE days old

There is no rule in effect that it needs to be the same day as the immigration appointment

Longer story:

There appears to be false information being widely propagated about how fresh the bank letters for immigration at Jomtien needs to be. (Retirement extensions, etc.)

I encountered this false information twice recently. At my bank that issues that letters and also on the Pattaya City Expats Club visa information pages where it was reported as an "update" that the letter needs to be SAME DAY as the immigration appointment with an exception being if you got it in the afternoon and came the next EARLY morning.

I suspect these false rumors may have been related to another real requirement (which my bank did know about correctly).

On the day of your immigration letter you must do a transaction on that same day so the date on the letter matches that transaction (and of course matching balances).

In any case. the information I now have is the letter needs to be with THREE days. I has before understood it to be a full week and frankly I think there is a good chance a full week would still be accepted, but better to make it fresher.

In my experience over the last decade Jomtien has NEVER actually had a policy of requiring some day letters.

Cheers.

My experience  for Marriage extensions have been that they want a same day letter, same office different desk.

At Chiang Mai the Bank letter can be 3 days old,BUT the bank book

must be updated the day of application.

Thanks for the clarification.

Now I realize that I should have limited this correction to Retirement extensions.

However both my bank and PCEC are propagating false information about Bank letters for retirement extensions.

Not for Jomtien bank letters for retirement.

I have noticed that the different immigration offices have their own interpretations of the various rules and regulations, even down to individual officers themselves having different opinions.

This could be confusing .

Will the new new head of immigration be able to get all offices and officers working from the same page?

Sorry couldn't resist. ????

Jomtien has actually been very consistent over the years in NOT requiring same day bank letters for retirement. Yes it's office specific. I'm pretty sure there is no national police order that actually stipulates this detail.

Dream on

The forum would lack a lot of topics in this case.

Not if you have a fixed account - at least I never have for the last 4/5 years at Jomtien (make a transaction that is.....)

In Jomtien they sent me back to update my bank books. They told me that they have to be updated on the day when you get the bank letter or later but before the application.

In May they wanted the letter and the Bank book dated the day of the extension in my case at Jomtien. As always rules different depending on who you deal with

Can you recall EXACTLY how you came to that conclusion in May?

Did you actually present an older letter that was rejected?

Did that rejected letter have a transaction same date as the letter?

How old was the rejected letter?

If you didn't present a rejected letter who told you that it needed to be same day?

Reception clerk?

Processing clerk at retirement desk?

Officer at retirement desk?

The expats have nothing to think the whole day. For this reason the immigration tries to keep the brains of the expats fit with the help of such challenges. In addition they have something to talk about when they hang around in bars. Then they don't rely so much on lady drinks and the paid conversation at the level "What's your name", "Where you come from?", "How long you stay?"...

The quote was talking about CM - not required as of October. You need the bank letter (7 day window) you need copies of all bank book pages, you need the bank book. No transaction necessary.
