Hi all i know this is probably a topic that has been done over and over but i cant find it anywhere in topics.

Does any one have information regarding a farang getting car loans to purchase a car in thailand . I am considering this idea so as to not have my vehicle under the name of someone else, which of course can be a bit of  a problem here in thailand.

Many years ago I owned a car in my name. I paid 50% deposit and 50% on finance which was organised through the car dealership. I needed a work permit - which I had at the time - AND a Thai to guarantee the loan.

he is asking if farang get get a loan.....NOT if he can own a vehicle.....

His last sentence, the way it's phrased, left some doubt....Not being sure if he was being told it needed to be in a Thai's name by somebody with bad intentions, (which takes ownership away), I chimed in...

Much better to own outright here if you can. I got a loan from my bank in the UK, transferred the money and bought my car outright. Not easy to get finance here as a farang.

Depends on your residential status. and supporting documentation. If your first application it's gonna be difficult without a Thai guarantor.

Then again, there's always workarounds. Sales are pretty flat at the moment.

In general you can say that if you are working in Thailand you will get a loan, if you are not working in Thailand you will not get a loan.

In case you are not working, but somebody who is working acts as your guarantor you might get a loan.
