Pattaya: Bar girl went from persecution to prosecution after shoplifting at Big C

Thai media reported an unusual excuse for theft given by a bar girl working at a beer bar in Pattaya. 

 

Patthamaporn, 20, told police that she was being persecuted by fellow bar girls. 

 

One suggested that a way to stop the bullying would be to steal from a shop - and get away with it.

 

She succeeded in doing the first but failed with the latter. She was stopped with a whole lot of products in her bag at Big C Extra in Central Pattaya.

Staff who detained her last night before calling the police said she went to pay for some items at the cashier but they discovered skin cream, beauty cream, perfume, sunglasses and lipstick to the value of 3,500 baht in her bag. 

 

She was in floods of tears as she gave the excuse for her thieving. 

 

She was taken in and charged with theft during the hours of darkness, reported 77kaoded

It is actually no joke. During darkness punishment is much higher for the same thing.

If the story is true and not an elaborate excuse on her part then let’s not make jokes at her expense. Stealing is breaking the law, yes I understand that and has consequences. Compensating by women for bullying or relationship problems by stealing is not an uncommon coping mechanism.

Bullying others is a very, very serious issue and damages and destroys lives. Self harm n suicide along with addiction eating disorders are a few examples of the unfulfilled lives often lived.
Victims of bullying end up with tragic and horrific results from being brutalised by others simply because through power imbalances these folks can Torture another.

Say no to bullying, no to making fun at the expense of others. Grow more compassion and spread it????

Poor girl, I sympathise. Not bad, just real dumb with not much experience to deal with a whole new world from the village.

They make you steal it for a "dare"

as for bars looking for girls, that's in decline.. less customers equals less staff required!

Nice story, for those who believe everything a bargirl says. 

GF works at BigC, says she sees customers stealing everyday. Yesterday tells me about falangs stuffing things in their bags and paying for only one or two items. So much for security and surveillance cameras.
