Pattaya: After promises of action comes another foreign snatch theft victim

Ruk Siam News suggested that the same men who have been terrorizing Pattaya committing snatch theft were continuing their spree.

At 4.30 am this morning Pol Maj Thanin Kanphai and a contingent of tourist police went to Soi Marine Yen Sabai where a 37 year old Uzbekistan woman had reported a snatch theft.

Vsola V. had been walking back to her hotel when her black shoulder bag was ripped from her grasp.

Two men wearing cold weather hoodies raced off on a motorcycle into the night leaving the victim in a state of shock.

Many tourists - particularly Russians with families - have been targeted in recent weeks in similar thefts.

The media suggested that the same men were responsible.

This comes after the deputy mayor of Pattaya called tourism officials and police to a meeting after a German TV program exposed Thailand as a dangerous place for tourists full of scams.

Action was promised with more officers set to patrol from 10 pm to 4 am.

Pattaya police don't do law enforcement - ask any taxi driver (ALL of them) why their meters don't work. Pattaya police use the law to prey on motorists with no discernible results on the 2nd worst casualty figures in the land.

Thailand must be the best country on earth for good intent.....and the worst for implementation :whistling:

The words promise and Thai should never be in the same sentence.

Don't worry, they'll find a way to discredit her soon!!

Technically Their meters work but drivers don’t feel obligated to put them On.

Anyway please understand that it is also high season for snatch thieves.

What sort of parent takes their kids out to 3-4 am ?

I wouldn't even go to the Thai police unless i need a paper for my insurance.

After the meeting everyone went home and forgot everything.

Unfortunately, the high police presence would not have helped this woman......................

It was 30 minutes after all the officers knocked off shift................

A promise in Thailand from officials, is absolutely meaningless.

The same people who take their kids to Pattaya, or very young kids on long haul flights.........Russians

Nope. Plenty of people around at that time leaving places like Insomnia etc and moving onto other places. The police are around too on WS. Thats why Pattaya is so good. Its a late night city. But this kind of petty crime needs to be driven out by the mafia as has been the case in the past. Maybe the big boys need to come up from Bangkok to shake the locals up a bit as they did a few years ago when Russian and Chinese criminal gangs enroached on the Pattaya mafia.

Many especially Asians as they dont dont use baby sitters and prefer to take care of their kids personally. Many Middle east people stay up late because it is cooler. Its usually people from an @nally retentive Anglo saxon backround who follow industrial,  factory work sleeping patterns

Where does it state that someone did?

I thought that after midnight until sunrise is when the night crawlers

and vermin get active. Good time to take a taxi or be in bed sleeping.

Geezer

Not long haul for a lot of them, they come from the East.

The story is about the crime and a victim, not about parenting.
