I need a new passport as mine got wet recently and some of the writing is smudged

Can I send my passport back to my house in the UK and get it sent to Liverpool from my home address?

Then a family member can send it back to me from the UK

It would save me having to go to BKK

You are supposed to have your passport with you. Either do it yourself in Thailand, or if you live in the Pattaya area, there is an agent that will take care of it, eliminating the Bangkok trips.

Mine main concern is will it get rejected in Liverpool?

Why would it, do they know/check you are not in the UK? You would effectively be in Thailand without any travel documentation.

would it show up on the system that I hadn't re-entered the UK or is that not something they check?

Just wondered why more people didn't do it this way.

So they copy all your pages and give you the passport back?

I didn't realise they did that

It most likely would be given that your current passport would lack an exit stamp from Thailand.

Whatever - You seem to be determined to do your own thing, something the British embassy would advise against as by law you must be in possession of a passport at all times whilst in Thailand.

Go to the British Embassy website (goggle it) and read exactly the procedure.

Or phone them.

I.e get the info first hand.

I think I know the procedure but best help yourself.

Sorry. The bit where you said your trying to avoid going to Bangkok did not sink in with me.

There are companies that do the taking / returning of your passport etc for you.

5,000 baht is cost in the case of the one linked below. There are others.

Yeh I think that's the easiest option!

I don't want to take my next flight and have a problem with the passport.

The main photo page is still legible but the two photos are slightly blurred

I live in Chiang Mai and did not want to take two trips to

Bangkok to get new passport, so had my daughter send me form,

returned to her with passport, she took it to PO, paid fee, new

passport was returned to her in just over a week, she sent it

back to me, by courier, job done, you will not get the letter

asking Thai immigration to transfer the Visa stamps, just

send E Mail to UK embassy BKK, and ask for letter, couple

days got the letter, off to Immigration and they transferred the stamps.

regards Worgeordie

Well it was easy in the end.

Sent the passport back by Thai Post on 23rd Dec

Cost me 200 baht.

It was received in the UK on 2nd January

Did all the application online for the renewal, not one piece of paper was needed or signature required!

5 mins including taking my own photo using a passport picture app and uploading

75 quid for the renewal

Just received an email to say it's been approved and will be sent back to my UK address.

Family member will then forward to me.

Glad it worked out for you though I wouldn't want to use your experience as a precedent.

You'll now have a new virgin passport, and unless your family member returning your damaged passport, no evidence of your immigration status in Thailand.

If you have your old passport you'll need a letter from the British Embassy, probably issued by Trendy, asking for the Thai Immigration to transfer the immigration status stamps to the new passport. Not sure if they will do that by post and maybe they will want to know how you circumnavigated the official route to obtain the new passport, hopefully not.
