Looking at the Samui airport arrivals board for Sat 1st I can see two flights from China. Tibet Airways from Xi'an and Bandit Airways from Chengdu. <deleted>. Have they not been watching the news? Maybe they have been cancelled and the arrivals board has not been updated. At least Bandit Airways can quarantine their crew and passengers at their very own Bandit Samui hospital and make a huge amount of money. Just don't hang around the arrivals meeting point when these flights arrive.

Suggest you’d better get on your boat and start rowing. Head West.

To India? It might get as bad as China when he arrive!

If you head west from Samui, you can't go by boat to India, you end up on the Thai coast.

LOL I had Phuket in my mind.

There are no more direct China flights arriving. Chengdu Airlines and Tibet Air stopped flying to Samui about one or two weeks ago. Also the PG operated flight to Chongching has apparently been cancelled. But they were flying here all the time until recently....

wherever you are in Thailand, it is only a matter of time before a case of Corona shows up near to you.....it doesn't have to be from China, more likely via a neighbour Singapore/Vietnam etc.

One worries in particular about how well Cambodia, Myanmar and poorer neighbours will handle any infections or even detecting them.

My concern is that local institutions, schools colleges, hospitals and other places where large numbers gather together seem to have no plans in place to deal with the problem if or WHEN it rises.

A recent gathering  on the island for immigration gathered together 100s of people from Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos for 2 or 3 days in relatively confined area and then left the locals totally unprotected and uniformed. Surely this is a classic situation for contracting the illness?

In many places cinemas, churches schools and other institutions have been closed to avoid large numbers of people gathering together - Samui's policy seems to be quite contrary to this?

I suppose if corona is imported onto the island, they will just shut down all travel band off the island, turning it into a corona  concentration cluster or hotspot?

Residents know all too well to expect to be poleaxed by valentines day (or thereabouts) per annum as a result of the mass influx of (Northern Hemisphere) tourists over the Christmas period bringing their colds and flu with them.

But the many and workers and holiday makers on Samui come from neighbouring countries and even China.

It is worrying that there seems to be no publicly announced policy/plan on what to do in the case of an outbreak.
