British prisoner with suspected coronavirus following extradition from Thailand was arrested in Pattaya last year

 

 

A British man who is at the centre of a coronavirus outbreak in the UK after having been recently extradited from Thailand has been revealed as a suspected drug dealer who was arrested in Pattaya last year.

 

According to Mail Online, Mark Rumble, 31, was flown back to the UK from Thailand on 27 January.

 

He was originally arrested at a house in Nong Prue in Pattaya on 1 November after the British authorities requested help from their Thai counterparts following reports Rumble had fled to Thailand in order to escape drug charges in the UK.

 

It was previously reported that Rumble denied the charges against him and accused his former Thai wife of setting him up after he ended his relationship with her. 

 

According to the British media, Rumble collapsed in his cell at HMP Bullingdon in Oxfordshire where was being held pending an appearance in court later this month where he faces charges of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

 

Another inmate who had contact with Rumble also developed flu-like symptoms, while a prison nurse who treated rumble put herself into self isolation at home. 

 

A prison source told the Mail: “One prisoner was found collapsed in his cell last night. He is understood to have recently arrived at Bullingdon from a jail in Thailand under a transferral scheme.

 

“He is being treated at a specialist hospital outside the prison. The two other prisoners were displaying flu-like symptoms and are in Bullingdon's hospital wing.

 

“All three prisoners were in single cells. A nurse who was in close proximity and contact with the collapsed prisoner has self-isolated as a precaution.”

 

The news comes after Thailand on Tuesday confirmed one new case of coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 33. The latest case is of a Chinese woman who is a resident of Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak.

I am not sure if they are allowed or not but I  read somewhere that if they're already in Thailand, they can overstay without incurring overstay fine or arrest.

Or he may not be infected at all, which is most likely. He could simply just have a normal flu, or be trying to fake something hoping for an opportunity to escape.

When I worked in an NHS hospital there was a never ending flow of prisoners and their

escorts cluttering up the place, I think most were faking illness for a spot of day release

as most of them looked more healthy than their guards!

 

Given that this rumble fellow had come up with all sorts of excuses as to why he had 

class A drugs in his property, I wouldn't be surprised if he had cried "Corona" and the

authorities felt they had to respond efficiently.

I am confused with this....if he was ok and was extradited on 27th, where did he pick the virus up from. He was in prison (presumably) before that) but he must have gone to court for example. Was he in isolation in prison and never allowed into the canteen for example? 

Now he has flown on a plane or two planes for many hours after infecting two prison mates in Thailand? What about the people on the plane that he was breathing on?

 

Apart from the math, which is never accurate, what is it about all news articles in Thailand that leave you with more questions than answers?

How do we know it wasn't on of the two inmates that infected him?  
Though it is more likely that he probably contracted it en route to the UK, in the airport or plane.  Which begs the question, how many more are infected now?

She could well have been one of the thousands or tens or hundreds of thousands who fled Wuhan before the announcement of the plague and there has been no answer from the Chinese government about where these people went.

On Yesterdays forum, the government stated that Thailand is still welcoming Chinese tourists, and not closing its doors to Chinese citizens like other Countries,
