Licences (2yr car & bike) expire this May. I leave LOS next month (March) and not back until August. I read somewhere that they won't renew before expiry date, but wondering if they will if I show them booked flight details?

Yes, at DLT in my province, Ratchaburi, licence expired early April 2020, renewed in mid December 2019.

Was thinking of doing when I got back but not keen on driving here (or anywhere) without a licence, albeit for 30 mins driving from home to DLT then to Imm then back to DLT.

I’d like to grab a 5 year licence but I only have a 12 month retirement based, extension.

I believe that if you let it run over the expiry date you have to retake the test. At my office I was told it can only be renewed on the last day, bit like the IO then, every office has its own rules.

You have up to 12 months to renew after expiring before you need to redo do any tests... best to renew straight after your birthday cause it will renew 5 years plus the days to next birthday so effectively 6 years !!

You can, after your first 2 year one finishes..Long term visa means 12 months..

My licence was renewed to my birth date in February 2025
