Public urged to trust “Team Thailand” to lead the fight against COVID-19

Piyasakol-Sakol.png

Thailand’s former public health minister, Dr. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, said Saturday that he expects the rate of new confirmed COVID-19 infections to spike in the next couple of days, before stabilizing and then reducing after a week, if all the preventive measures introduced are followed strictly and with the public’s full cooperation.

Dr. Piyasakul is a member of the so-called “Team Thailand”, a grouping of Thailand’s top medical professionals, from major medical science institutes, mobilized by the Government in the fight against the contagion.

He told a news conference that the team represents the country’s best and internationally recognized medical brains, while assuring that the team will do its best to care for the people and urging members of the public to trust them. He also appealed to the public to follow advice, not visit risky areas and to be socially responsible by being truthful with health officials.

Sorry Dr Piyasakol you and the so-called “Team Thailand”, a grouping of Thailand’s top medical professionals ( oh the irony :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:) are going to be severly dissappointed. Ask real medical professionals from around the world. 3 to 6 months for Thailand.

Let me interpret this. "We will fudge the figures like our good friends in China and show the world how good we are. Anyone who dies after things have 'stabalized' would have died from underlying medical issues."

Everywhere, 'except for China', have not yet peaked and expect this pandememic to run for at least six months.

The only fighting will be by desperate people who have had their income taken away from them for the foreseeable future.

2 weeks at least in the major cities for a significant amount of people + Songkran is cancelled.

These are huge avenues of revenue that have just disappeared.

Most people in Thailand are on the bones of their ârse when working full time and send a % of their income to families all around Thailand, especially Isaan.

Prey tell me who is going to feed them now?

Not seen anything from the govt yet!

Just a lot of hot air as usual from the usual morons who 'run' the country

So true. How can you brainstorm with someone who has no active brain cells. When the best any government think tank around the world can do in a crisis is to say "trust us", you know you are in deep s##t.

Next door there is a chinese thai family of about 12 living in 2 houses side by side. Last night they were having a bbq on the front drive together and drinking well into the morning, with plenty of hugging and back slapping going on.

i wont hold my breath.

This is total nonsense: Two days! While other countries are bracing themselves for 2 months. And he wants the public to trust them. Sad !..

Oh yes, finally some sensible predictions.  6 weeks since Chinese tour buses stopped, several days since shut-downs, No exponential growth in CV cases!

Weather, food, attitude is a winner for the lucky folks living in LOS

The culling is not necessary in all countries, the "good" country of Thailand is being spared as we are superior in common sense and healthy lifestyles.

Peace

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/03/thailand-sees-biggest-jump-coronavirus-cases-200321135412582.html

In Asia, Thailand reported 89 new cases - the biggest daily jump in the number of infections so far, taking its total to 411.

It is rising exponentially. This is just the start.

I do agree though that Thailand has some inbuilt defences. Hot and humid. Traditionally low levels of personal contact, wai vs. handshake.
