I feel for the poor guy as he has to feed his family or whatever and 5,000 baht means alot, however yes , I agree with your comment .... he has achieved nothing as now he does not have the tools to make any income at all.

Exactly.. cut off your nose and all that...

This government allegedly has the funds, so why are they making their "electorate" suffer ?? Could it be that they are just too greedy ??

It's all going to get a bit nasty. There's going to be a lot of desperate people about, sadly.

    that'l teach the government a lesson !

  • Very sad. Many people need this money and they need it yesterday. I hope the government don’t think the mere offer of 5k will buy them some time. It’s not a couple of million of people who need this m

This scheme has been a disaster. I wish them good luck with trying to retrieve the funds given out, to many, in error.

Can someone please get the dear leader to go away. I keep getting my ears bashed by my wife about his short coming which I've been telling her for years.

Imagine if you were super rich and could spend just a tiny portion of your fortune to help a huge amount of poor people. You would still be super rich after helping, have a good feeling about yourself and would even be a hero to all people.

If I was super rich, I know what I would do.

Absolutely despicable what the Thai government is doing to its people. My Thai wife who owns her small salon at our village home also like so many others got refused the 5,000 bht relief aid money. She got a sms from the government saying she is the owner of her business and does not need the money. She was livid writing them back that you forced me to close my shop and that is preventing me from making income.

There was a large protest on Thai tv today of people that didin't get the aid money who really need it and were furious of their government that are not looking after the poor and only the rich. Many were calling for Thaksin to come back and help them as at least he helped the poor when he was in office as it dont look good form many people. I'm disgusted.

some thais also do good, some of my well off friends do - i know because they love to tell and show people how good they are on social media. i'm not criticising, different culture, that's all.

and what will change? The system is rigged from the get-go. We saw the disaster during the last elections with the last minute election rules & formulas fiddling. ???? There is simply no hope for this lot.

He could have sold his fish baskets !! Or even kept them for when business got better.. ????

The 2 problems there are

1   Who would buy his fish baskets

2   Nobody really knows when business will even start to get better, not in Thailand or worldwide.

My wife just came home from work today and told me that the family living next to her restaurant had a huge fight today. (Man beating his wife) The man started drinking after his workplace was closed due to the virus and is now drunk every day. Also with two small kids and no income, both are under a lot of pressure. My wife helps them with food, but still it is a crazy situation they are in.

Just an example of one family, who before the lock-down would never react like this. The lock-down will end up costing more lives than the virus.

Going to see pitchforks on the streets soon if the government doesn't open up their trough to the general public.

The troughs are only for the richest and fattest pigs to feed at.

The scraps trampled in the dirt are for the starving.

Not in Thailand.  The super-rich have no empathy.  And if a normal person could suddenly become super-rich, they would have no empathy for the poor either.
That's 'status-worship' is built into the culture.

That's my fear too, although i'm still hopeful that common sense will prevail.

part of the $60 billion Wuhan virus help fund for local economy, was for the millions, even 10’s millions who have no jobs, less income because of the forced shutdown of the economy, all their communist Han Chinese business creeps are doing ok, many people are using the banks or the large franchise supermarkets, so giving 20 million 5000 a month is affordable, it’s $3 billion a month, $60 billion more than covers it

If you were super rich you would only have gotten that way by stepping on the poor people, and therefore you wouldn't give a toss about them. You would feel entitled and that you earned your money, and be screaming that we need to raise taxes on the poor to give them more of an incentive to become rich like you.

Think I'm wrong? How many super rich do you see giving a "huge" amount. Even Bill Gates, who now is trying to repaint himself as a good philanthropist, only got rich by being an evil scumbag at Microsoft. Microsoft business practices were hated so much that Google adopted the slogan "Don't be evil" in their early days.

Of course, now that Google is the super rich, all those plebian fantasies have been jettisoned.

Didn’t he know elite business schools recommend 3-6 months of one’s income in of an emergency fund via a money market account or in his case a fish freezer?

Heard the same myself even from more well off people.

They are finally starting to get the joke.

Yes, can't beat the logic of this action, the government won't give me 5k so I will cause 5k damage to myself.

You'd have the EC after you...

This is what years of corruption, living hand to mouth, self serving leadership, and growing wealth disparity will eventually lead to. ????
