April 15, 20205 yr So I am curious. There was a thread before on whether or not you would turn in someone who was breaking the law, such as overstaying one's visa. Most people said they would not, that they would do nothing. Currently there is a shop that I pass frequently that has a very small customer area, maybe only 2 square meters. It's a shop that according to the State of Emergency regulations, should not have customers seated in the shop, and can only be operating for take-away. However, people come and sit inside the small area to chat and I suppose get that take-out. It's clearly breaking the regulations, but probably the owner would say that the customers are only in the shop a few minutes and it's fine. Some people are wearing masks there, some are not. So what is the course of action here? Shall we just mind our own business and let it go, or call the authorities concerned and rat this person out?
April 15, 20205 yr Popular Post Forget being a detective. It will course you more harm than good. Let it go.
April 15, 20205 yr Popular Post Why would it even bother you in the slightest. Move on and focus on what you are doing and be safe.
April 15, 20205 yr The more people not respecting social distancing, the longer this sh*t is gonna be. So yes, I will snitch. Because what they are doign concerns public health, including mine. (and by public health I also mean mental health)
April 15, 20205 yr Popular Post There are plenty of police around photographing shops. Let them do their job
April 15, 20205 yr Is that really wrong? They are not eating in the shop, just waiting for their food? Do ppl have to stand and wait outside? I dont know the rules.....

April 15, 20205 yr Popular Post I despise snitchers. If it's upsetting one, stay at home and get food delivered.
April 16, 20205 yr Author It seems to me that breaking the rules in this regard could impact others (including you) by passing the virus along to other people. Overstaying a visa is, more or less, a victimless crime (but a crime nevertheless). But so far, interestingly, people seem not to care about whether a viral contagion is spread or not. "Not my problem," I guess...until you get it from someone.

April 16, 20205 yr Popular Post There is an abundance of dodos who come here thinking that they have a role in law enforcement. Living that childhood dream of being a policeman. But they all want somebody else to do the heavy lifting.

You are not the police, its not your job, you have no idea who they are or why they are there, leave it alone.

April 16, 20205 yr Using the word SNITCH certainly loads the question.........how about ...... As a fine, upstanding citizen who feels we should all obey the accepted laws of our country, do you think you should inform the authorities of any wrong doing?
April 16, 20205 yr Popular Post I go to a place exactly as the OP describes. Sit for maybe 10 minutes. Can still maintain social distance between myself and other customers. Wash hands before and immediately after touching anything. Consume and takeaway. Owner and passers by never indicated a problem. I suppose next time I'll have to duck for cover if I see another farang frowning and looking officious.
