Hmmmmmm How many?

Figures do not include deaths outside hospital, such as those in care homes.

Failed to include many of the cases in which first responders encountered someone who had already died at home or other non-hospital settings. That happened 280 times on Monday, according to data from the Fire Department.

Like Spain and France, the U.K. appears to have had a problem counting the number of deaths in nursing homes. On Tuesday, the Office for National Statistics said 5,979 people in England had died by April 3 with COVID-19 — 15 percent more than numbers published by the health service.

But I fear Yinn that it is the same here, as we will never hear of the numbers from the impoverished provinces on those that were sick, stayed homed, and died.

What makes you think it isnt the same here?

i bet the real numbers on the ground would make your eyes water. Seems to me Thailand is following Chinas lead on hushing up the real figures to save face.

we will never know the true extent of the damage form either China or Thailand so all we can do is speculate. I personally don't believe a word that comes out of politicians mouths, especially round these parts.

I'm quite sure that this will be true worldwide. Many covid deaths will not be recognized as such due lack of testing or an assumption that a pre existing condition caused the patients demise.

IMO no countries figures can be totally reliable.

It is only England that is under reporting the numbers. Scotland and Wales do include the number of people who die in care homes or indeed at home.

I do not know what Northern Ireland does.

Well, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Patients with serious, irreversible pre-existing conditions have been counted as covid deaths in Europe, possibly the opposite is happening in Asia.

If we consider that "fear" doesn't improve your chances of survival, i prefer the Asian way.

  • Popular Post

Do the numbers really matter ?

Unless they stop this complete lock down nonsense the world economy will also be dead.

If transparent reporting was allowed in Thailand without the threat of long prison terms for fear of fake news or defamation, you may find Thai media reporting the same....

Plenty of evidence coming out from Doctors & Nurses sying that basically any one dying of previous conditions that have exposure or "Maybe" have the C/V to be pronounce dead from C/V. It is the biggest economic con in history!!

Actually probably not the same as Thailand does not have many nursing homes and those severely sick will be taken to a government hospital.  That cause of death may not be tied to COVID-19 is indeed possible here due lack of testing and thus not reported - but the rather large numbers dying in nursing home type facilities is much less likely due to them being few.  In USA the nursing home death rate is indeed very large from accounts I have seen - but it is being reported.

All true but right now, in Thailand, you could die of pneumonia and never even be tested or listed as a PUI. The testing rules are very strict and arbitrary so if you are sick and outside the parameters you can very likely die of covid and not ever know. I believe part of the reason for this is that the ministry's know they can not cover every case of covid like they say they will, combined with their 'image'.

All of which is a determent to society because I for one would love to know exactly how prevalent the virus is. I would like to judge if going food shopping or whatever is worth the risk and that risk can only be judged by testing.

I imagine that since there aren't mass graves or lines flowing out of hospitals that the truth is somewhere in the middle, but certainly not what the government says.

Yes I worry about thailand same.

Some members always attack me, I NOT say in OP about Thailand, I have no link. I ask “How many?”

Maybe they only like to criticize Thailand, not accept if THEIR media criticize. I just show link. I not comment opinion.

Terrible situation right? Should criticize situation, not me, I just show it.

I think/ hope not same in Thailand

1) Thai Social media is very sensitive this topic. I think if a lot die they will report.

2) The number people die in countries in the report, so much, so hard to know about everyone is in the number or not.

3) Is a lot in elderly care home. In Thailand not many like that, the family take care.

But i I like to know if or not. Sure.

Phuket now have most corona per person. We have lot TVF member there. You can not control gossip in thailand.

Any you Phuket guys have information?

Any member have information about people die last month? Suspicious? Real case?

Yinn hope all your family in Europe, Uk, USA be ok.

Stay safe everyone.

Then there are the suspect deaths attributed to COVID.

It's all a numbers game.

Waiting for the first farang to jump from a balcony due to COVID.

Although there may be many unreported cases of covid19 in Thailand, my guess is that there are many asymptomatic carriers everywhere in the world.

I can only conclude that, on average, people in S.E. Asia have better antibodies.

Time will tell.

They start now test people at their homes! Hope they not "find" 1000 new case's in one day or we not taste next Chang in our mouth in this decade!

Maybe, but. New Zealand and Australia do good job. I think they not lie the number, be to difficult because the number is low.

They countrys have the big problem now, maybe because they deny before. Trump say “it be miracle go away”,

Boris shake everyone hand the hospital,

Brazil PM deny and now increase,

Sweden refuse do something, now up a lot.

Iran same. Italy, Belgium, France, Netherlands.

Think South Korea the best one.

Thai scared the problem now is Indonesia. They lie same. And deny before.

Indonesia and Malaysia is very close religion/business/friend. Mix a lot.

The Maylasian mix a lot with South Thais.

And South Thais mix a lot with other Thais.

Already this problem start.

Map below (sorry not find English one)

The red is Bangkok, Phuket (south) and Yala (Deep South).

think you understand. Green is none (only Ranong in south). The orange is a lot.

The south is problem.

Where did Yinn post in the OP that it´s not same in Thailand? I believe she only posted this to make all the posters complaining about the Thai numbers aware of that it´s the same in other countries as well. Not the other way around like many seem to think.
