Hua Hin: Sixteen day project to help the needy comes to an end

A sixteen day project to hand out rice and agricultural products to the needy in Hua Hin has now come to an end. 

 

Under the banner of "Hua Hin people fight Covid-19" the project was a collaboration between the local authority and the private sector.

 

No public money was used in the scheme - it all came from donations from the private sector including foreigners. 

 

Mayor Noppaporn Wuthikul speaking at the Phon King Phet park said he was proud of the response of people to help in the crisis.

It had run from April 15th until the final day yesterday when 700 people turned up. They grabbed basics such as rice along with more special treats such as jellies for children, corn pineapple and mango. 

 

From now on the project will shift to a different plan entailing home visits for the sick, handicapped and aged. 

 

There are also plans to distribute disinfectant to the public to help with cleanliness.

So much the better, because there has been an enormous amount of abuse.
Anyone could pick up food at all the stalls all over Hua Hin.
Hey! no, there were not only the needy, since in the "hungry needy", I recognized my young neighbors who made, at least, 4 meals a day. To be precise, complete meals and not dishes. From starter to dessert. SCANDALOUS. PROFITORS
Besides, I did not understand that there was no authorization from the municipality, nor vouchers to remove a bag of food.

Wow, foreigners got recognized.......... and for something positive as well

My Wife and her friends were helpers in this scheme. We donated every week, and they made up food packages in soi 94 to take to the distribution. Lots of good honest folk, both donating and receiving. However, the part that sickens me most is not the possible odd one or two who would take advantage, it is as this statement from the Governor said............

There is a rice kitchen set up at Baan Khum Por at 5 pm. Any type of Donation

will be welcome. Ask for Nok she runs a Sticky rice _ mango shop there. By the 7-11.

It is always like this. Look for instance at some western countries where big companies ask for government support and at the same time don't want to reduce their dividends or bonus payments.
