A terrified shopkeeper and his family were forced to leave their property after a gang trashed his convenience store and car on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Sanook reporters responded to their complaints and when they got to the store on the Route 36 bypass (Krating - Rayong) they found the store cleared up but a Honda Jazz with all its windows smashed in.

The store owner's daughter Thipthida said that a group of young people had gone to the store at 11 pm on Saturday night wanting alcohol.

Her father refused as it was curfew time. They went away and came back with other gang members armed with baseball bats and swords and trashed his shop and car.

After the family reported the incident to Bang Lamung police,  the gang came back causing a woman and two children to flee the shop and go and stay elsewhere.

Wo knows maybe they closed at 10 and were cleaning up because they live in the same location.  Maybe the thugs came banging on the door which was closed because they saw light son, who knows, what does it matter?, the thugs are still worthless pieces of human excrement in my book and should be handled very non delicately....

I don't disagree with your last sentence and all your other comments may be true, the following may also be true:

They were open beyond the curfew time coz they were trying to make an extra bit of cash when all their competitors were closed....

And you may be entirely right. It still does not condone behavior such as that shown, but then they are probably mommy and daddy's pride and joy who have never been told NO

No, sorry if I implied that, I was just emphasizing what you and I agree on.

So if one of these places that are selling beer had a bar fight and someone got glassed in the face, who's fault would that be?

Here's a clue - if bar not open, fight not happen, yes / no / phone a friend?

From the Thaiger story on the same incident:
"The shop was closed but as it is also the owner’s home, he was inside with his wife, daughter, and two grandchildren.

Further down:

"The family called the police. Ms Thipthida and her father headed to Banglamung police station to file a report. While they were there, the gang returned to the shop and attacked the owner’s wife, 53 year old Praiwan Pru Munna, who was attempting to protect her grandchildren from the gang.

The men allegedly threatened retaliation unless the family withdrew their police statement. It’s understood that the lady was not injured but was left badly shaken, with the family choosing to sleep elsewhere that night."

Hmmmm, I wonder if they were charged 2,000 baht to be escorted to/from the police station during curfew........

Some people go nuts when they're drunk, others go nuts when they're sober but want to get drunk.

Can't argue with that, the wailing Greek chorus of alcoholics during the ban was deafening.

Surprised there has not been more of it ,,,in particular when the booze ban was on.

2 bars in Asoke got broken into but at least they did not trash the places, just took what they wanted
