PHUKET: A six-wheeled truck carrying steel-reinforcement rods and wire mesh for construction slammed into the concrete barrier in front of Wat Patong, at the bottom of Patong Hill, and overturned this morning (May 28).

The driver, Surachai Choosin, escaped serious injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, which Mr Surachai attributed to brake failure while descending the steep hill into Patong.

Attributed to driving to fast and brakes couldn't pull it in time , actual brake failure is BS for most of these accidents .

The Bermuda Triangle for brakes. Thailand just can't catch a brake.

Actually I can see the logic in this - I think it must be in the language ...

When I want to drive faster .. I press the accelerator pedal .. if I not go faster then the accelerator pedal is faulty - When I want to stop .... I press the brake pedal .. if I not stop .. the brake pedal must be faulty.  Its that simple!

I have seen the light !!

Innocent motorists have lost their lives after being squashed against that barrier by heavy vehicles with brake failure.

Break failure due to wrong gear, not using the exhaust brake or not having one that functioned, speed, and pumping / using the brake too much due to excessive speed from wrong gear selection ... Guy doesn't know how to drive a truck properly ...simple

It's a helluva thing driving down that hill in the pick-up, but it must be outright butt puckering scary in a truck with poor brakes! ????

And what would have happened without the barrier?

The motor bike repair shop would have been demolished ..... yet again. ????

Probably someone silly enough to have a shop on that corner would have died instead.
