thank you for your advice. it should still be under warranty but i bought it on lazada and that seller is no longer around. lazada service is a long way from where i live.

In many cases you can bring this, or maybe send this, to an authorized service center, maybe even Lenovo.

The serial number is normally all you need for that.

I suggest look up the serial number which should be on the back of the device and all Lenovo and ask them where to repair it.

In this case, OneMoreFarang is giving you the correct advice.

I have a similar device; IdeaPad 330s/Ryzen 5/FHD.

But I guess what you have not done is to check your warranty status on the Lenovo website.

I did this, even though I didn't buy new and found it was under it's original warranty. At the same time purchased a three year on-site warranty extension(which means they visit you to fix your laptop) for 2000 baht more. Paid 10,000 baht in total for a "as new" IdeaPad 330s with a three year warranty. Actually paid 2000 baht in total, but that's another story.

The standard warranty was a one year return to Lenovo product.

You can check your warranty status here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/th/en/warrantylookup#/

If still valid, you can send it/take it to Lenovo for a warranty repair. You can also extend the warranty on-line.

The issue with the sound is likely just a Driver issue. You can retrieve the Sound Driver from the Lenovo website.

If installing that doesn't work, we can Troubleshoot from that point.

But a faulty keyboard should be replaced by Lenovo, as long was it is not caused by the user. e.g. Spillage.

My PC is a Lenovo and as I stated earlier, it most definitely is a new keyboard that is needed.

You can buy them on ebay relatively cheap,

or as OMF stated, take to Lenovo authorized service center.

If this is your model - https://www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=lenovo+how+to+replace+keyboard+for+lenovo+300S&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_jBHeXu3eENGprtoPs6SBsA829

As an old people watcher these days, i note they bring great sadness to the users.. "You know anything about these things" echoes round Starbucks most days. They remind me of BMW, once they go wrong dump em.

"Plug and play", the  biggest  load of BS they ever  invented, usually didnt.

Computers have improved dramatically over the last 15 years when there was ALWAYS some problem when I had them the best being the NVIDIA graphics  cards that  repeatedly  failed despite HP saying they knew nothing about it and then finally  after ALL manufacturers had the same problem admitting it. Even  now DEll xps 13 2019  still have the sound go off occasionally, drivers ok you  just have to go dev.manager and disable the  re enable to get it  back, might  happen once every few  months or sometimes 3  times a  day then nothing for months,

HP have just closed its rather nice Store right next to our Uni, makes one wonder why.

I had it with a Toshiba laptop---it was a hardware problem.....not software. I had got fixated on a game which used the "A" a lot so I kept banging away on it--after 6 months it failed, when I pressed "A" a different letter would appear or AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA..... they installed new keyboard into the lap top.

I don't want to hijack the topic---but how can I type a Russian letter in, I want to join a Russian site (boxing) Have to type in something to show your not a robot....tried cut/paste, that doesn't work

Been running windows for ages never a problem. I guess when you actually pay for software instead of using a pirated version it stays good. Windows 10 is a huge improvements over all previous systems.

Can only say as a windows user from 3.1 to now windows 10 it only got better and better.

I tried linux not that good if you run a business and worry about comparability. (also for VR and games not that good)

Have fun---I'll stick with Linux..carry on!

Of course its all a matter of preference for some people linux is enough for others its not. I prefer windows as i use it for business too. Gaming windows is superior too.

If i had a really light computer (low specs) and did not do business or gaming I might have gone linux. But I got a high end system and never any problems.

It a keyboard hardware problem.  Unless something happens to be stuck under the Q key it's simply the Q key "electronics" have failed/intermittent---nothing you can do except replace the keyboard...even popping the key off and cleaning underneath probably will not help.   Plug an external USB keyboard in and no problem with the q key.

I had the exact same problem (q key intermittent...or would need to press extra hard to get it to work) on a Lenovo Z510 at about 18 months into its 2 year warranty.....got the keyboard replaced for free under warranty.   And if I remember right some keys very close to the q key would act up sometimes...keys that probably interfaced with the same keyboard IC chip controlling x-amount of keys on the keyboard.  Popping the q key cap off and cleaning didn't help.

The keyboard on a Z510 is easy/fast to replace (5 minutes); not like most laptops now days which requires complete disassembly of the laptop and maybe replacement of the entire top side of the laptop.

And then approx two years later the Z510 keyboard developed intermittent key problems again....this time it was the $/4 key and @/2 key.   Popping the key cap off and cleaning didn't help.  Use an external USB keyboard and all is fine. This time I bought locally (Pantip Plaza) and replaced the keyboard myself....keyboard cost Bt800.

Now I'm still banging away on that Lenovo Z510....using it right now to write this post....and I have an spare keyboard stored away when the Z510 goes bad again.  I originally bought the spare since some of lettering on some of the keys had partially rubbed off/faded and I decided I would just change the keyboard since I couldn't find any stick-on lettering of the same size...but I have since fixed that issue (good enough) with some white paint.  But it feels good to have spare keyboard which I can swap out in 5 minutes when the "gotta change" time comes.
