Booze in a government office? No, it's fish sauce and the ice and soda is for lemonade

A local official in Singburi in central Thailand has explained matters after netizens claimed that boozing was going on in a government office.

A woman was even seen in a clip serving a superior at his desk.

The governor of the province set up a committee and  launched an immediate inquiry.

The official at the center of the drama explained it was all quite innocent.

The liquid in the bottle of spirits was fish sauce or nam pla in Thai, a common salty additive for Thai food.

And the ice and soda bottles also pictured in the office?

That was to mix up some delicious lemonade, that was all.

never heard of "Black Label" fish sauce and soda, must be really nice because it's almost empty

At one of my old schools, some of the teachers loathed attending the events. They'd eventually drag themselves out, red faced. I swear there were bottles of lao khao in some of those desks.

I stopped drinking alcohol at the end of May and now my evening tipple is soda and ice.

I think you have to be drunk half the time to put up with the place, why should govt offices be any different, they have to put up with the Thai public after all.

Surprisingly not drinking black label from coffee cups because then there would be definite proof of a cover up.

But it started like this before it was strained and bottled:

Saw this on the news the other day. My thought is, depending on the time of the day being after hours, then who cares.
