Who is to say these folks did not in fact catch COVID in Thailand?

Tell it to the 23 Burmese workers who went home FROM THAILAND on June 8th & all tested positive at the border!!!

The wheels came off the BS Thai has no covid train long ago.

Unbelievable really.  Lock the country down completely for people with genuine reasons to get back who WOULD comply with requirements, have the population suffer the emergency measures and in many cases no work / money for months and meanwhile allow anyone they feel like in and just let them go walkabout!!!  And these are just the ones we know about!

This was a a group of 31 military who were visiting the shopping mall and venues, not just the one who has tested positive. Total incompetence. 

 

"He and the crew reportedly visited a Rayong shopping and community area. They left their hotel on July 9 and travelled to China on an unspecified military mission via U-Tapao Airport.

They returned to Thailand the same day. On July 10, the crew of 31 got tested. However, they were allowed to go home on July 11 though their Covid-19 test results weren’t confirmed."

This IMO is the big question. And I am 100% sure that they were told they could do it. The army may be denying responsibility but somebody was 'hosting' them. No way on this earth that a group of 30 foreign military would be allowed, even in transit, be left unattended. Perhaps not 'let' out of their hotel but taken out would be my guess.

 

In my time (granted many years ago but doubt the 'tradition' has changed in any country) I have been part of many 'hostings' to foreign military units. It happens everywhere.

Their travel history itself is a bit of a nightmare given the pandemic. Egypt to Middle East to Pakistan to Thailand to China back to Thailand. All quick stop visits. One would wonder how much freedom of movement they had in these countries before arriving here.

i feel very sorry for the little girl only 9 ,i hope she can be with her mother.is she ill?i hope not.as for the rest of it -the fabled nonsense is exactly  that,hotel ,malls, in and out and here and there.dont make a lotta sense compared with how the rest of us are treated,secret mission my a%s.this is just plain old fashioned honest to goodness BS thai style.egyptian soldiers ,well check the rest of em out they were in china another thai buddy thats got no virus,so......as we all know everyone in the mall will have been masked up so no problems there but i guess when your on a secret mission he didnt have his mask on.im sure the generals will be running about closing malls beaches and everything else they can close in rayong.surround everybody with everything we got and let em have it!!

Ok, so who did invite them? And as far as not having to undergo quarantine, well that policy was decided by the government.... who just happens to be largely led and controlled by "ex" military.

And you believe that all people in Thai malls are wearing a mask.  Only at entry and if they are being checked.  Trip to the Central mall at MRT Param 9 stop showed many without masks on as they walked in the mall, then no social distance seating at the eating establishments, nor any social distancing on the MRT and even though masked, plenty coughing going on.

Perfect example of media hyping nothing into something . Yes he tested positive   But if he wore mask in public chances of infection spreading are minimal and yet I do not see a single mention if mask was worn. Surely CCTV would show it

Yeah but mere mortals get screwed while the military get  the red carpet treatment. I hope this is a wake up call to the governments strategy of allowing military personal freedom to tour around while here on "business" ????

I said this before. Exemptions make no sense.  Are they magically going to be Covid 19 free? Test all visitors. Track all visitors. That is the only way it works until a vaccine is found. If you think it infringes upon your rights then don’t go... Simple!  I would give up some rights if it means I can safely travel again.

To be fair they have done quite a bit that is not really making the news. Not sure how much isolation is being done for staff but where they had children the schools were immediately closed. Several other schools in the area such as REPS have also closed for the rest of the week.

What's the point of the tracking app if the location of positive C19 people is kept secret from the population? Surely they should announce where he went and when he went there and encourage anyone who was also there to get tested and/or self isolate. 

 

Unless of course, where he went is too embarrassing to announce. I guess it's a case of "what goes on tour stays on tour".

Talk about shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted.  Good response to close the schools, clean the streets and the malls, all the cost, inconvenience to everyone; yeah far better than just restricting the movement of these monkeys in the first place, or even not letting them in!

Also the local MP (and deputy health minister) has got the information out locally as to where thos guy stayed and went which does include a certain shopping mall that strongly denied his presence yesterday. Free testing available at 2 sites now for anyone who wants it.

i swear i was going to Rayong on the 16th to meet a friend of mine I met in a soapy in Surin but that part of the story is not important but i wonder if they are going to close the city now for a while?
